A year ago I would have been able to say "every time my kids are out of school." I used to load the kids up and drive to my parents' home every single school holiday, and we'd drive out two or three times over the course of the summer. However, my mom (and therefore my stepdad) decided we weren't worth speaking to after DH and I stopped catering to my little sister's insane mood swings. We haven't seen or heard from them since last Christmas despite our repeated attempts.

We live on the same street as both of our parents so we see most of our family frequently. The parents are a few times a week, almost every day!

We saw them a couple times a year, since they live 8 hours away. They were going to travel and visit more when my Dad retired but now they're stuck being childcare for my nieces full time, so they aren't even enjoying their retirement and we are still doing all the traveling.

I wish I could see them more.

once a year, usually around the holidays, we see my parents...

they live down the shore - distance isn't the problem, it's my father - even nearing 80, he's as much a miserable, abusive b*stard as he's ever been (with no signs of slowing down....) - emotionally draining to see my mother still being bullied by him - once a year for 3 hours is even too much, sad to admit - it physically drains us (the arguments before we arrive, while we're there, and for weeks thereafter) - there are meds to "fix" his mental issues, but he'd never take them or admit he needs them.

both my parents have passed. I miss them dearly. We haven't seen the "inlaws" (or egg and sperm donors as I refer to them as) in 3 years now. We have tried but they dont want anything to do with us or our kids.

Okay I put everyday because my mom and I share a house, but I only see my dad once or twice a year since he lives in another state.....

I probably see my dad on average 3 times a month. He lives very close by, we´re just all very busy. We usually speak on the phone every day though.

My mom passed away 6 years ago.

Both of my parents have passed away. We see my husbands parents roughly 1 every couple of months.

My mom lives with us for a few reasons and she is a GODSEND. I love having her live with us, I can't imagine it any other way.

My MIL we see sometimes once a week for days at a time. After half an hour the novelty has worn off. She is coming thursday, I am bracing myself. She is the type that talks through movies, while she is drinking something she speaks thats real fun to see wine dribble out her mouth because she forgot she was drinking something and started yapping again. She talks non stop, is always right and lately never hesistates to give you her opinion even when you don't want it.

I chose "other." We go to the USA twice a year to visit our parents. In the summer the kids and I are there for about 8 weeks, so we get LOTS of visiting in then. At Christmas we spend about 2 weeks with them.

No memories of my dad. I have one picture of him standing next to me at my birthday, I was about 3 or 4. I am now 40+. Haven't seen my mom in the past couple months. Only spoke with her once in that time. :confused3 We're just that type of family. So, I vote for a few times a year.

I voted 'few times a week'.... my dad and stepmom live down the street and keep my DS when needed....

My mom lives in Cali tho...so I'm lucky if I see her once a year :(

I try and see my Mom once a week.
Dad died about 15 years ago....

I don't see my inlaws nearly as often and I feel badly about that.

Some months I see my parents 2 or 3 times, but then it could go 2 months before we see each other. I talk to my mom a few times a week though (sometimes dad too :))

Okay, I win the worst child award.

My parents both live less than 40 minutes away from me and I see them on birthdays and major holidays only, like Thanksgiving or Christmas if I can't avoid it. July 4th isn't a major holiday and we are not religious.

My dad re-married and his wife is odd.

My mom has the hoarder's disease and refuses all help. I can't even walk into her house because of all the stuff against the door.

They never offer to come to me and when we do invite them over, I get a lecture on how I moved away from home and that the drive is too far. Mind you, I still live in Los Angeles, I'm just down the 405 freeway from them.

They haven't even called to ask me how my vacation was and I've been back since Sunday.

My father passed away a few years ago and I only get to see my mom a couple of times a year. She is too old to travel this far so the only time we see her is when we travel north. I do talk to her on the phone at least once a week if not more.

My mom and I work together, so I see her everyday. My dad passed away when i was 7.

I had to go with "other" becasue there wasn't an option for once every year or two. My parents live near Puerto Vallarta Mexico. we live in New Hampshire. It is very expensive to fly us all down and they are pretty anti social. They rarely come here to visit and do not take any time off from work when we go down so we really don't get a lot of time with them when we do plunk down the $$ for flights. I love them dearly, but we seem to do okay with email and phone calls for most of our relationship and niether of them has ever been very comfortable around my (or any) kids:confused3
