do you go yearly? is it your major family vacation?

we've gone twice since I had kids, 2 yrs apart in May both times. It was so great this past May and I'm toying with saving to go again in Feb (too old to take kids out of school anymore). But going once a year feels extravagant to me, kwim? At the same time, I don't want them to get so old they won't want to go with me, they are 13 and 11.

sigh, I think I'll wait another year and try to save that money instead. The college thread sure got me thinking, lol

We do a big family vacation every 2 years. March was our first Disney vacation and in 2012 we are planning on trying to go to Disneyland to see the difference.
We take lots of smaller weekend trips with our timeshare on the off years.

We sort of have an abstract goal of every 5 years. If our January trip works out that will just be 4 though. That's cause we're going with my sister and her twins will be about to turn 3.

We have gone 3 of the last 4 years, been using our income tax return to pay for the trips. I throw in a couple of OT sifts and bam trip and spending moneys paid for. We usually do 12-14 days this year is 12 at POFQ. :thumbsup2

When in May did you go? how was it crowd/weather wise? :goodvibes
I just had to cancel my fully-paid off trip (was supposed to go with my son August 21-27) but had some debt that needed to be cleared off, so made the decision to postpone. It was hard, but now I can start saving again for another trip and we WILL NOT cancel the next one, LOL
Just wondering what you thought of the May touring!

We go twice a year, three if you count stays at Vero Beach or Hilton Head. I'm 50 and my DH is 63 so we have no mortgage debt (or any other kind of debt). We used savings to buy 3 DVC contracts. Our kids are teenagers so we don't have childcare expenses.

I have been in May and prefer it! The weather is perfect and the crowds are low. I have heard the same thing about October though.

We plan to go once every 18-24 months or so, but sometimes events allow us to go back faster.

Two times ago, we got a bigger tax refund than we anticipated, so we went sooner and then this last time, we got free airfare and I put our disney fund in Citi stock when it hit rock bottom and it tripled in 90 days. (Wish I would have put my whole IRA in there....)

Unfortunately, it will be 18 months or more until the next trip unless we get somemore pixie dust...

We go 4 times within a 365 day period. We buy annual passes for that year and get the most bang for our buck.:thumbsup2

We bought AP's last June. Went for 2 weeks in June/July, 5 days at Thanksgiving, 10 days at Easter. Ended up cancelling our June trip this year since it was just too hot for the new baby.

We'll now repeat this pattern starting next June.

We went for the first time in 2003 and fell in love :lovestruc but did not have the money again (dh was preparing to get out of the military) until 2005 for free dining, decided to go again in 2006 we loved free dining so much, and then after that got preggo and decided we'd enjoy it more when ds got older which is now ;) he'll be 3 in Oct.
Dh has said this will be our last trip to Disney for a few more years, he wants to see some other stuff, which I kind of agree, so we'll probably end up making it an every 2-3 year thing :thumbsup2

We try to go every year. We start saving as soon as we get back. :) I should say I start saving. The Disney trip is usually my 2 teenage boys, my sister and myself. My hubby has yet to be bit by the Disney Bug. :lmao: Then, we usually take another trip (usually some place tropical) with the hubby every year as well.

We don't really have any set schedule. When my kids were little we actually only went once every 3 0r 4 years. Then we purchased our dvc and we started taking longer (10 day) trips along with inviting family.
My kids are 16 and 19 (college student) and they want to go every other month. :rotfl: Dh & I keep waiting for them to say they don't want to go so we can go by ourselves.

Lately we've taken other vacations for a various reason (desire to see other places, restuarant quality going down etc) this year we skipped.

Our next trip is not until August of 2011 but we will be checking out Disneyland Paris in May.

yeah, DBF did Disneyland this year with his two kids and says he just doesn't get the appeal. He can't believe that I love it. That's ok, it's a lot cheaper if I go without him! we can do other types of trips

May is great. Did Oct years ago and that was even better.

We go when we can afford it. Which means every two to three years :) Sooooo jealous when I see people complaining how little they go--and they go at least twice a year!!!!

We go every year. As soon as one trip is paid I start saving for the next. Works out pretty well. This is our one family trip every year we go for 10-14 days.

We have been going every year for about 7-10 days for the last 7 years. But honestly I think we will be cutting back. I think I will either start to do a 4 day vacation every year or maybe just do a 10 day every 2-3. Its really not financial its just I want to see other places and df vacation is limited. We want to do more international travel. But if I had little ones of my own I'd probably keep going every year.

I posted earlier every five years or so- I should clarify that that's by choice because we do want to do other things- and DH would want me to clarify that we went on a 4 day DCL cruise last year- we disagree on whether that 'count's' as a Disney trip.

okay, here it goes: I'M A DISNEYHOLIC!!! our daughter is 9 and she has been 21 times just to give you an idea. we drive down everytime and for 2 years we did the AP and one of those years we went 6 times. Last yr, we went twice May/Dec. and this year it was the same. now, we bought a house so we have to be adults and only take one trip next yr but like the other dissers, our income tax return goes to disney. next year we want to buy some new furniture so only 1 disney trip. one of the years we went 5 times and once to disneyland cause i got my 15yr bonus. so, when i get my 20 yr bonus we are going back to disneyland/so.calif trip! we loved it!

We go about every 3 years (planning our 3rd family trip)
