So, if I were to walk a reservation, how oftern do you actually modify to the new dates? Since it only let's you book up to a week beyond the 11 months, would I just need to modify every 6 days to make sure no one leaps me? Or do I need to do it everyday? Somewhere in the middle?

For a 7-night reservation, you can modify every 6 days and keep the walk going. You just have to modify no later than the day of the last night you have booked. For instance, if you book on the 1st to check in on the 1st of the month and check out on the 8th (have the nights of 1st through 7th booked), you can modify on the 7th.

That said, for very important reservations (which is the only time I walk) I've been known to modify every day, in fear that I'll forget or have something happen and won't modify on that last possible day, and I'll lose my reservation.

As above, you can modify every 6 days for a 7 night stay. However, sometimes I would reduce that down to 5 to take in to account the possibility of the website being down (been known to happen!)

I feel like I like walking every day even though it's completely unnecessary because it gives me something to do on the website LOL.

But yes, as long as you move it forward before your final date is up you've locked up the room essentially. Also maybe be a little more vigilant with walking the reservation as you approach a Sunday each week because of fixed week reservations starting then and also who knows if Disney will pull a room out for maintenance and etc.

Good point! I didn’t think of that because BWV doesn’t have FW, and I don’t walk anywhere else.

The fixed week is one risk that would suggest walking daily. A second risk, though usually only an outside possibility, is DVC having some future designated dates you need to walk through where more rooms than usual will be out of service.

All of the above relates to the 11-month window. There are times one might attempt a 7-month walk, although those should be planned to start fairly recently before desired dates and you should assume they require a daily walk. An example I have seen in the past is BLT lake view rooms. For July 3 and 4 time, I have seen them open at times in the past at 7-months out from June 26, which means you may be able to get one for July 3-5 by beginning a short walk by reserving June 26 as a start date at 7-months out, but then by a June 29 start date, anything actually left for July 3 and 4 was gone.

Once you have reservation and you start to walk it do you need to do it promptly at 8AM Eastern?

Excellent advice in this thread!!!!! Thanks so much to each of you!

No you don’t need to do it at 8am. You only technically need to do it before the last day of the reservation comes up. At minimum you have to walk it once a week but you can do it everyday if you’d like.

I mean, if you want to make sure it gets enough exercise and doesn't get overweight - you really should be walking it every day.
