How Often do you Dust?

You mean I should be dusting on a regular basis??? I thought you only had to dust if someone moved something and you could see the clean spot. :D

Usually once a week on a Saturday morning.

Well, I do it when we have company coming over, or if it starts to look real bad. However, I have this poem on my fridge, and it sums it up for me.

Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better
to paint a picture, or write a letter,
bake a cake, or plant a seed.
Ponder the difference between want and need.

Dust if you must, but there is not much time,
with rivers to swim and mountains to climb!
Music to hear, and books to read,
friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must, but the world's out there
with the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
a flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
this day will not come round again.

Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go, and go you must,
you, yourself, will make more dust!

I am so happy to see that I am not the only one who hates cleaning. My husband thinks that everyone else in the world has immaculate homes, that I am the only person that puts off cleaning. I am showing him this thread.

To answer the op's question - I do try to dust every week, but realistically I do it every 2 - 3 weeks.

I trained my kids to dust at about 18 months old. :p I can't remember the last time I've done it myself, my kids do it twice a week. :p

If I dusted, than I wouldn't be able to tell when somebody is moving my stuff around.

I am relieved that I am not the only one!!!

Maybe once a month. Maybe

Okay, I'll tell you and now you will all have the same opinion of everyone who knows me....anal neat freak....

I dust every day, at home and in the office. I can't sit still if I see a speck of dust on anything! But down't worry, DD is having me commited any day now.

I usually dust on mondays, but will use a swiffer to touch up later in the week if we are having company.

I tell people who come to my home, "you can write in the dust, but please don't date it!"

Suzi:hyper:

My mother's house is always immaculate, but then again, she HIRES someone to do her house. She will come to my house and just roll her eyes. And to THAT I tell her that if she has a problem with my house she has several choices.... clean it, don't come over, pay her lady to clean my house too, or just deal with it! :wave2:

I dust the whole house once a week. I touch up the livingroom/den area if I am going to have company. My children had allergeries, and one with asthma so this got to be a habit.

Dusting? You mean that white protective coating on my furniture?

I have that protective covering too!!! It's cheaper than scotchguard. :)

Ideally I dust every room every week. In reality I dust every week but I don't always get the whole house done. Some rooms get dusted more frequently than others but I am trying to do better. Maybe soon they will all get dusted every week. I would really like to get the house in ship-shape before the holidays. It's so fun to have company over a lot during the holidays but it takes so much work to get the house ready if I'm not keeping up with everything all the time.

I have a cherry wood table in my entry way and when I walk by it and see dust that's when I dust the rest of the house. It could be everyday for a week or it could be once every 2 months depending on my table. I don't know why but it's my triger point. lol

Maybe once a month. It's usually when something gets spilled then I notice how much dust there is. But I don't put out dust catchers on the tables, so it's easier to clean.

Every other thursday, that's when the housekeeper comes. :teeth:

She dusts everything including the blinds and vacuming the furniture.
