How often do visit DCVs?

It is cold out and I am jonesing to go south. Due to our work/school schedules and lifestyle (i.e., other travels), we only visit DCV once every 2-3 years, which led me to thinking about others.

If you do not mind sharing, how often do you visit the villas? How long do you normally stay? What month(s) do you normally visit? How far do you travel? And...how do you travel (car, plane, train)?

What determines how often and when you travel? And so forth...

How long? 7-10 days each time
What months? Mar, June, Aug & Oct-Nov (depending on school sched.)
Travel how far? 560 miles
Travel by? Always by car
Determines Travel? School schedule first, whether we have APs to use up second, finding enough money a distant third

For us ... generally once each year, 10-12 days, January, travel from San Diego by plane to MCO then use Magical Express to the resort. Our annual visit is tied to a technical conference ... pretty much the same week every year since 1996.

Well, we used to be in the same situation as you. Typically we'd get to Disney every 3 years or so. It really depended on my daughters school schedule. We've only had DVC for a year or so, so I don't have a big track record yet. But my youngest is getting ready to head to college, so I see my plans changing drastically We have a spring break trip scheduled for her, and then just a Mom and Dad trip for the beginning of December. Since we no longer have to worry about school schedules, we figure we're going to make a number of trips down on off seasons.
Typicaly we fly, but it's not too bad if we need to drive from Northern VA. As time goes on, I'm sure we'll have to add more points on so that we can house the grandchildren once we get to that stage. (Oh, I can almost hear Mirabella calling to see if she can help me with those points).

What month(s) do you normally visit? March, November or sometimes June, but I like to avoid the really hot months.

How far do you travel? About 1000 miles? I think?

And...how do you travel (car, plane, train)? Usually by plane. We have driven a couple of times, but the last several times, we have been able to get great fares and with the gas prices, it just made more sense for us to drive.

To be really cost-efficient, we generally use the DVC discount and purchase Annual Passes. Then we'll make 3 visits (generally 9 nights, Sun-Tue) to DVC during a 12-month period to get the most out of the passes. We also purchase the DDE (now TIW) card to save on our meals during the same year. Then we take a year - year-and-a-half to vacation at non-DisneyWorld locations.

We usually fly down from Pennsylvania. When the airfares were really high, we were thinking we may need to reduce to 2 visits, but make them longer stays. Or drive, ugh!

Generally we try to make one visit during the Food & Wine Festival, one in January, and the other just depends on schedules.

We just had a 1-day visit to DL during our New Year's trip to the Rose Parade, and we'll be visiting DisneylandParis after our ABD Italy tour in October. Looks like we won't be getting back to the villas until Fall '10.

We go 3-5 times a year, for 3 to 8 days at a time. I like to go always for F&G, this year it's both March during my spring break, and May for a pre/post cruise with the family. We go for a MNSSHP by taking a long weekend that is more for me than for DH, and that's usually late September. We usually enjoy a day at TL or BB before the party, and then we go for a December visit after my autumn quarter ends so we can go for 4-6 nights.
Next year we have family doing things for the January Marathon weekend, so that's probably going to be instead of the March trip. I still would go in May for Flower and Garden.

We usually visit about 3 - 4 times per year.......This year is different......my Son bought a house in Tampa and it is like 1:15 minutes from Disney!!!! Imagine that!!!!! So now we are in a situation where we have tooooo many points for now. We like to spend lots of time with him while we are there, but it is cutting down our time spent at Disney.....I can't tell you how many times we just jumped in the car and spent the day there. We live in NJ (brrrrrrrrrrrrrr), but our heart is definately in FL. I am sure things will change again, but in any case I would NEVER sell my DVC......unless this economy forces us to do that.

We like to visit twice a year and generally stay 8-12 nights each stay. We're coming from Ohio - I don't know how many miles that may be - and (currently) we fly. As husband gets closed to retirement, we would like to drive. We like the months of May, October and December. Have been in September - too hot and also in March - too many people!

How far do you travel? Too far. It's about a 16 hour drive or a 2 hour flight.
And...how do you travel (car, plane, train)? For years by car, last few by plane.
What determines how often and when you travel? Money, number of points, and the need for a 1 bedroom. I'd go 3 - 4 times a year for two weeks each trip if I had the time and could afford it.

twice is a short 3 nighter and the other 2 are 5 days or so.

Travel only about 2 1/2 hours and always get annual passes!!

Unfortuantely DH only gets 2 weeks vacation (sometimes I escape for an all girl weekend trip) but for family vacations we try to maximize our annual pass. This year we are obtaining our annual pass in May. Our use month is April. We will try to get 3 trips out of that. We are going May 3-10 to BWV (the Garden and Flower show at Epcot is awesome during May), going again November 8-15 to SSR (one day of Food and Wine Festival 11/8 and some Golf tournament 11/12-15...something for the DH). We will go back again in 2010 the last week of April (as we will have more points) so that we still have the advantage of the annual pass. We are thinking that we may save the rest of that years points and the following year take a cruise or go to the mountains. (My friends think I am crazy that I actually plan out 3 or 4 trips in advance...I know that you all understand...right?)
