How Much $$$

Is there any reason they don't want us bringing mini fridges? Just out of curiosity. Energy-related reasons or something?

Not sure...Sorry I cant be much help with that! lol.

So I haven't done the program yet but I do live in a house with 6 other people we have 2 fridges so theres 4 of us in one fridge and 3 in the other... It can get packed for space but you figure out ways to just stack and stuff as much as you possibly can.. Anything that doesn't have to be refrigerated isn't.

As well sharing food isn't necessarily a great idea. Yes condiments are okay or if you made pasta and have leftovers you know you don't want that's fine but often (i speak from personal experience with MULTIPLE roomates) it ends up in fighting about who's eating more versus whos paying more etc. Because you might have a friend over and have some chips with them or make a dinner for them but then your roomate is now paying for your friend to eat type of thing. It gets reallly complicated REALLY fast.

In my house now we stick to the only use it if it's yours or if its currently being offered to you.

I think sharing is okay as long as you share things like eggs, milk, cheese, butter, bread, condiments, etc. Very minor things. My college roommate shared stuff like that, but then we had a lot of our own things too. It was easier that way because we didn't like all of the same stuff. Us and our two other house mates shared one fridge, and it worked out pretty well.

Same reason they're not allowed in many University dormitories. They're an extreme fire hazard, particularly if everyone brings one and overloads the electrical circuits.

Hmm, that's odd. My university allows mini fridges, actually encourages it really. I guess they have their reasons, and it would discourage underage residents from harboring alcohol and the like (as many college students tend to do!)

There's alot of things that are banned on the Price Management property. You will learn all about it in your first week at the housing meeting. They have lots of rules but they are there to protect you and your fellow CM's safety.

To answer the OP's original question, I think it really depends on your lifestyle and eating habits. I know that for me personally, I'm going to be spending more on food than most- I buy a lot of fresh produce and really watch the nutritional values of what I eat.

I also already know that I plan to dine at some of the amazing restaurants on Disney property from time to time when my schedule and budget allow.

As far as cooking goes, you might find that you actually enjoy doing it! I know I never thought I would and I home make almost every single one of my meals every single day now.

Yes...about the sharing food thing, I don't see how that can be a good idea. I would hate to come home and see something that I have been craving and paid for myself is gone because a roommate ate it.

I shared an apt with 2 other girls and what we brought, was ours only. Simple stuff we might share. For example, I had a water pitcher/purifier thing and told them they can use it whenever as long as they filled it back up, but other than that, we cooked for ourselves and brought our own stuff.

Thanks to everyone who posted tips on the food sharing. All the tips were great! I didnt have any idea how to approach the issue having never lived with roomates. Thanks again!:)

Have a MAGICAL day!!
