How much would YOU pay per hour?

Well, my wife and I booked a somewhat last minute long weekend to WDW the last weekend of February (Princess Half Marathon Weekend. We were able to somehow score a Boardwalk View 1BR at BWV :thumbsup2).

Anyway, when we bought our airfare, my wife thought she'd have to work a half day on the day we leave for WDW. She has since found out she has the whole day off. So of course, we are now looking to change our airfare for an earlier flight, to be able to arrive at WDW earlier.

So, to make a long story short (I know, too late:) ) between changes in airfare and the change fee, I figured that if we change it, it is going to cost us $37.50 per hour for the extra hours that we'll have at WDW on arrival day.

Now I know there is more to it than just the financial aspect. For example, will it relax us more to arrive earlier, and of course, what we'll do with that extra time has to be taken into consideration as well.

Speaking solely from the financial point of view however, what is the most you'd pay per hour, to be able to have a few extra hours at WDW?

I'm more inclined to consider the total out-of-pocket cost. Plus, I'm not comfortable spending that money knowing full well that I was at the mercy of flight schedules and ground transportation running smoothly.

I never thought about it that way....I guess for me, it would depend on "how much" extra time we would get...

Up until now, I'd never thought about it that way either. :lmao:

But you guys are right; it depends on how many hours and what the bottom lilne would be. For example, someone may be willing to pay $50 an hour, but only up to three hours or so.

In my case, I'd be getting an extra five hours, and the breakdown would be $37.50 per hour.

That sounds like a deal to me.....

If your wife running the Princess? If so, extra time is worth way more than $37.50 per hour. The longer she can be there and acclimate to the weather (especially since you're coming from Buffalo), the better of she's going to be on race day.

In my opinion - I'd say keep you flight as it is.

Use that $37.50 per hour to go and have a nice breakfast/lunch before you leave

or

Use the $ for a special signature meal that you normally wouldn't do

or

Use the $ to buy that desired souvenir you've always wanted but couldn't justify spending the $ for

Great points, but unfortunately they don't apply to our situation. My wife, a former gymnast, hasn't run for distance since being sidelined by a knee injury. The fact that we are there during the event is only incidental.

We are looking forward to it though; we've never been during a running event.

For me it would depend on the actual times. If you were originally scheduled to land at 10 pm but could get there at 5 pm I would say no, but if you were originally scheduled to land at 2 pm but could get there at 9 am I would say yes.

I would do the exact opposite. If I could get to Disney for dinner and fireworks rather than late at night, yes, sign me up. Getting up for a flight doesn't work for me.

Last week my husband and I were able to get on a wed night flight as opposed to a thursday morning flight. he was supposed to work, but the blizzard closed his business.

we only REALLY got about 12 extra hours, but it made SUCH a huge difference for us. The extra time didn't even really change our day THAT much, since we couldn't book at BCV for the extra night, and had to switch resorts from AKV. It was just SOOOO nice to wake up in FL rather than MI. we slept in, so we were not exhausted, it was just amazing, and it set the whole trip off on the right foot.

It didn't cost us TOO much. We used DVC points for the room. The airline ruled the change as weather related for us since it was the day of the blizzard. We did spend 10 extra dollars on our rental car reservation, and we also ate the cost of a night at the westin at DTW (about $250). For us, it was totally worth it.
