How much would this house cost where you live?

We've been pricing houses in our town, and I realized that in the past 10 years, house prices have skyrocketed, but I think the costs around here are still really low compared to other parts of the country.

Here's a pic and description of the house. The neighborhood it's in is a nice, quiet, older neighborhood. The homes are all well-maintained, but at least 50 years old or more. Everyone who lives here is middle to upper middle class. I'll let you know how much they're wanting for it after I see a few guesses.

In our area, people don't want to live in older homes anymore. High price subdivisions with huge homes have replaced them. I still love the older homes though, unfortunately, the areas where homes like that are located have become low income areas. Around here, that home would sell for $95,000-$150,000 dpending on the inside condition.

Big.

Sorry, I don't know, it didn't say in the description. I just know it's a dang big house! It's about a block away from where I live, in the neighborhood where I grew up. The family that lived there had 6 or more kids.

About 99% of older homes in my area are downtown in not so desireable neighborhoods and that's a tiny lot. So I'd say 100k. Oh and people here don't really want to live in the old homes either, lots and lots of new construction here.

Maybe $150,000 to $180,000. It would depend a lot on how much is updated.
Where I live you can get a new 4700 sf house, 5 bedrooms/ 3 1/2 bath, playroom, hard wood floors, granite, stainless, 3 car garage, fenced yard for approx. $400,000.

This is a pretty desireable neighborhood to live in, and unfortunately, the house will be long gone by the time we're ready to buy.

It's $87,500.

We're looking to spend around $100K, and that ought to buy us a BIG ol' house!

Dang....I am looking for a house right now and its like a raised ranch inside (outside looks more like a coloniel than a raised ranch but its set up just like a raised ranch inside) 3 bed / 2 bath on 1 acre a total of 1800 sq ft for 369k. I live about an hour and a half north of nyc.

Wow! Just goes to show the difference in geography. You would be lucky to get a one BR condo around here for $87,500. A house like the one you described would at least list at $500,000. If it had beach access, a water view, or was in one of the more desirable neighborhoods, it would be more.
