I am participating in a "Biggest Loser" challange at my gym and as part of this weeks info packet, we got an interesting page on "Water Facts" that I thought I'd share. I'm not sure what the source of all these facts are, but I found them to be enlightening. Anyway....here they are:

- 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated

- In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger

- Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%

- Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

- A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

- Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79% and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

- Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue (sorry I missed this the first time 'round!)

So.....Are You drinking enough water? I know I'm not! :headache:

I love water but I don't drink enough during the week. It makes me have to pee and the bathrooms at work are just gross.

AkaSnowWhite,
Thank you for posting those water facts.:goodvibes I have been drinking 100 ounces of water each day for the last three days. I am going to the bathroom a lot but I am feeling better. I have also lost 2 pounds. The water facts just gives me more incentive to keep it up!:cool1:

Plus, the more you weigh, the more water you need. I average 5-6 Liters per day... that's around 1.5 gallons. Yes, I go to the RR a lot... :hippie:

I am not really sure how much I drink, but I do have a WW fillable mug and I drink about 1-1/2 of those during the work day, then at home I probably dink another 40 oz. So I think I get more than my fair share of water during the week, it is the weekends that I struggle with.

whoa! That's a lot of water. I think I'm one of those "day time fatigue" sufferers. Holy cow! I just realized that I forgot that one in my original post....SO SORRY!!! (must not have been able to focus ;) ) This is the "water fact" that started me thinking the most:

Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue!!!

....can't believe I forgot that one....guess I need a glass of water and a nap..:sad2:
