How much did your wedding cost, everything included except the honeymoon? If you're in the process of planning a wedding, please vote as to how much you think it will cost. We got married in Vegas ... just the two of us ... total cost was around $300.

This thread was inspired by a show I'm watching on t.v. about weddings.

Less than 250. 27 years ago. I made my own cake and flowers. Ordered invites thru the mail. It was a huge budget wedding. Didn't have a photographer (the only thing I really regret) cause we just couldn't afford it.
I bought my dress on sale at a store going out of business. Bridesmaids dresses same deal, 9.99 each. Groomsmen wore their own suits. DH had a suit that we bought on sale. I just couldnt' see renting a tux when you could buy a suit that could be worn again.

We had a fairly small wedding, about 50 guests, and it cost just over $10,000 in 1998.

Im in the process of planning my wedding and its looking like it will be around $4000 at the most.. We are thinking that we will have around 130 people or so.. The thing that is costing the most is the chapel/reception hall at $1900.. Us along with some of our friends are doing all the food.. One of our friends has a smoker and is doing the meat.. another is making all the meatballs.. we are doing our own vegetable/cheese trays and buying the beans and rolls.. Im making fruit trees.. I decided instead of a wedding cake Im having a 3 tiered cheescake.. Im making the grooms cake (Ive taken cake classes in past and I think I make a mean cake :rotfl: ) I bought a gorgeous Wilton wedding bouquet for $20 at Walmart. They also have the boutinerres for $4.00.. We're making the bridesmaids bouquets and the throw away bouquet.. I bought my dress at the David Bridals $99 sale.. so it was about $108 with tax.. The matron of honor and bridesmaids dresses will be about $100 each unless I can find a sale.. DF has a nice camera that takes beautiful pictures so we are having someone do the pictures for us with that camera.. We are renting the tuxes.. Someone I know has a chocolate fountain so we only have to provide the chocolate and fruit.. We are making chocolate covered strawberries.. Every week in the paper Michaels has a 40% off coupon on one item not on sale, so each week I go and buy something else for the wedding. This week they had a 50% off coupon for today and then another one for Monday-Thursday for 40% off and then Friday and Saturday there is another 50% off coupon.. So each week I get something else such as cake topper, serving set, toasting set, guest signing book, pen set, ringbearer pillow, flowergirl basket, etc.. Other than the chapel/reception hall the most expensive thing will be the dj which will be around $400 approx..

We paid about $5,000 for our wedding including a honeymoon in Hawaii. We only had 80 guest and we stayed in my in-laws condo on Maui which saved tons. We also got pretty much everything back with all the gift money we received. Loved every moment our wedding.

My parents paid for everything except my wedding dress, that I paid for. DH and I also paid for our honeymoon. At the time, DH worked for the Sheraton so we could stay at any Sheraton for half price. That sure came in handy!

26 years ago it came to between $5,000 and $10,000. We had a 4 hour open bar, live band, sit down dinner reception, the whole works.

When I hear what weddings cost today, I'm glad I was blessed with sons!

I won't mention exact figures - but it wasn't cheap :) My parents paid for all of it - my dad was just as excited about the details and planning as my mom and I were. My dad kept tagging on extra - extra course at dinner, extra food at the cocktail hour, a classical quartet for the cocktail hour etc:) It was cute to see him so "in" to the planning and NEVER a mumble about the cost. He wated it to be my dream wedding and it definitely was that and then some :)

Here's where I had my wedding back in 1996... http://www.themanorrestaurant.com/

My wedding was in 1996, but it was around 6500. We had around 50 people, but had a wonderful sit down reception with open bar and a cocktail hour. My parents passed away long before, so we paid for it ourselves except for the open bar. My aunt offerred to cover that!

Under $1000. Granted it wound up being a "shotgun" ;) wedding, but it had already been in the works when I found out I was pregnant. I knew I had to pay for most of the wedding, and I just could not justify spending so much on one day! We had the wedding and reception at my uncle's home(he has a big home on a lake). One aunt gave me our cake as a gift, another aunt purchased all of the decorations. I bought my dress online for $40(including shipping ;) ), my bouquet is from Gordon's(a craft store that does fake flower arrangements and frames), and I had one bridesmaid dress in "church clothes". Dh's dad bought him his suit, and BIL wore a suit he already owned. I purchased the food and fresh flowers for my bridesmaid, groomsman, and the parents. The JOP was $100, and I treated my mom and I to a day of beauty for a total of $100. Instead of a photographer we just had a bunch of disposable cameras all over, and people brought their own cameras....two relatives are into to scrapbooking so I have two beautiful Wedding scrapbooks. It was a beautiful day!

Our's was about $4500 16+ years ago, 200 people, roast beef dinner, nice little Italian lady, awesome cook, $6.50/person!!!!

We did the Vegas thing, too! Wedding, flowers music, 2 nights at the hotel in a great room, room service, video, photos and a dinner at a 4-star Steak House restaurant cost us $750.

About $15,000 this past June. (More than I wanted to spend)

I'm going to guess it was arounc 15,000 ten years ago. I was lucky that my parent handled the reception which was about 10,000 for 168 people. (Given that most of the guests were their's, I don't feel too bad about it  )

We paid for our honeymoon to Alaska, DJ, photographer, cake, invites and flowers. MIL is a travel agent, I knew the printer and baker - that saved me a lot of money.

BTW looking back, I wish I had done something similar to yours. And congrats on getting married!

All told, around 2500, including my dress and his new for the occasion suit.

We had a place in mind for the reception, but they were closed Sundays. As 75% of our guests were coming from out of town, the wedding had to be the Sunday of a holiday weekend. They decided to do it, but it was not your typical 4 hour reception-and I'm glad for it.

We had the festivities in the 'Lighthouse Bar' behind a local hotel, and it fit our 50 guests perfectly. Most of our guests stayed at the hotel, so they comped us the Honeymoon Suite, and the party continued there afterwards. It was a blast.

I bought fresh seasonal flower bunches from a local supermarket, because I thought they were really pretty. We skipped a photographer. If I had it to do over again, that's the one thing I wouldn't skip. DH insists that we'll have a vow renewal at WDW and include the photographer. :teeth:

FREE!!!!

We started planning a "regular wedding" and here on Cape Cod, MA things are pretty pricey.. when we got to the $15,000 mark and were no where close to being done we said.. "forget it!!!!".

we were going to take a honeymoon anyway so we booked a Sandals Resorts and they do free weddings!!! So we took off to Jamaica and got married on the beach.... Sandals, Negril (one hour before the ceremony we were at the swim up bar asking eachother... do we have time for another drink??)

My parents paid for all of it except the honeymoon.

I think when all was said and done it was around 9,000. This was almost 12 years ago. The majority of that $$ was the reception and photographer/video. I would guess that was probably $7,000 of it, as my dress and veil were under $400, flowers were about $500, cake about $300.

DH paid for our honeymoon at the WL and his parents gave us the plane tickets to FL and some spending money. :sunny:

The things I would have done differently- not much. Maybe gotten a few more fresh flowers, and most importantly, I would have waited 5-6 months to get married....if I had finished school in CA, I would have gotten my teaching credential instead of moving to OR in the middle of that 5th year and assuming it would be a snap to get in OR. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20. And then I would have been in WDW in July- that wouldn't have been a good first impression for me! :crazy2: .

Under a thousand. Very small affair, home reception about 70 people...my mom, the close friends and family members made the food. I made the floral arrangements. Planned in one month. (20 years ago)

I wouldn't change a thing, it was beautiful.

My dad gave me $8,000 and said have fun. I came in under that total and had a nice wedding with a million-dollar view and 100 of our closest family & friends (June 2000). My biggest savings was my $99 dress.
I also did my sister's wedding on the same $8,000 budget (courtesy of my dad again). She had about 80 and a very romantic country wedding (2005). Again, we had money to spare and she still got everything the way she wanted it.
I am a bridal consultant so I make it my job to find the best deals out there.

WITH the honeymoon (and I'm talking eeevvveeerrryyytthhhiinnnggg down to my underwear) came to $7,000. We had about 110 people, and a buffet. Mmm...it was soooo good! And a candy buffet on top of that with our cake!
