How much was the free dining package?

We decided we are taking a trip to WDW a week ago, which is when I found this place. I saw the great deal of Stay, Play, and Dine - Adults $506 and Kids $166. How long in advance did it come out?

That would have made a package just a little over $1500 for my family. Does anyone remember how many nights / days this was for? Plus, was it only for values? We must stay in POR or a deluxe as we are a party of 5.

Bottom line, I'm trying to decide if it's a better idea to wait and hold my breath for a great package (for February)...

OR, if I'm better grabbing an AP and booking Best Rate. Obviously if they come out with $99 AP rates for Feb. I'll forget about the packages *and* Best Rate and just go with a straight AP code, but I don't know if I can live on edge like everyone else is right now.

HEEEEEELLLLLLPPPP! This was supposed to be relatively uncomplicated.

BTW, I really, really, really, really :Pinkbounc want the dining plan. But, if I add it to a MYW package I don't get a discount. Not getting the discount will cost me $65/night more on my resort plus the $100/day I pay for my hotel. I think 2 adults and 3 kiddos could pretty easily eat for $165 per day - (1) counter, (1) table service, and (1) snack. Right?

The free dining was for a minimum stay of 3 nights in any level of resort catergory you choose. You also had to buy the same type of ticket for everyone in your family, be it a one day base or 7 day hopper, they had to be the same for everyone in the party.

The dining was dependant on the number of nights staying, not the type of ticket.

As for holding your breath, don't. Depending on when you go in Feb you will hit peak season so no real need to offer any discounts. Best rates are already out through Feb 15th.

The free dining was, I am sure, offered because its peak hurricane season and how hard they got hit last year.

I am a AAA member and had already booked my trip (11/29 - 12/6) through disney reservations. It is 7 nights, 7-day PH with magic pack plus, plus dining in a value resort and is 2200. The agent told me (only after I asked her directly!) that I could receive a room-only AAA discount (which would save me $225 on room-only) but that they could not book the dining package also with the AAA rate. So I called AAA and they did book the same package with dining and I am saving $205.I did have to pay another $200 deposit, but I cancelled my original res. Hope this helps.

Your AAA TA is wrong. you can get the AAA room discount and the dining package together. It is currently the only way to get a discount with the package.

Orgamizer's post said the Disney agent said this, which is correct - AAA room discount + dining package is only able to be obtained directly through AAA. The AAA agent was able to get the discount + dining. So all is well! :dog2:

Do you mean that you get a discount ON the dining package, or that you can get the discounted room rate and are allowed to purchase the dining package. I am new, sorry if this is a silly question!

you get the AAA discount on the room portion. but need to pay full price for the dining.

The dining plan is 35 per adult and 10 per child, this also includes tax and tip. If you do a sit down, a counter and a snack you may find that you spend more than that per person. The best way is to look at the menu's at Allearsnet.com and see which way works out best for you. Can you feed your family cheaper? Yes more than likely. But this will include character meals as well. There are so many restaurants on the plan and the characters dinners too. Check out the disney site for the listing of all the restaurants.

This free dining plan is not still available is it? My co-worker maybe going in November 2005 and I just returned using the free dining plan and she was hoping to get it. I do think it's expired now but I was just wondering....

Thanks

thanks, that's what I thought but I wanted to make sure before I told her it was unavailable. My SO said he would never go again unless we can get the free dining plan. I hope they offer it again... lol
