How much US money do you take??

Hi everyone!

We will be on the ddp when we go down next week, (NEXT WEEK!!!!! ) so I'm just wondering...how much us money do people take out? I don't mind charging most things to the room; then I get a good exchange rate and the points on my visa but I'll need money for tips, and stuff like that.

What do other people do?

We are also going down for a week on the DDP. I plan on taking an extra $500 but I want to pick up a few Christmas items.

I usually have about $50 in ones to tip mousekeepers-etc.

On our last trip we brought down about $250 cash and $500 in travelers cheques. I would charge any purchases to the room (I locked away the cash & tcs in the safe while we were at the parks and restaurants etc.) and every couple of days I would clear the room charges with tcs so that nothing would go to the credit cards.
Our visa has a good rate but before going down I discovered that they added 2% - blended in on the statement so we could not tell it was their service charge. You might want to call yours before you go - amex added 2.5%, visa 2%, mastercard 2% - I'd rather not pay the banks anymore than I have to and exchange rates change by the day - better to get a good rate to buy into ahead of time.
We came back with cash left over. . . small bills came in handy for tipping.

You know I was going to take just a bit of cash ($300.00) and then charge anything extra to my VISA, but with that extra charge tacked on I might just bring more cash with me. Hopefully we won't need too much extra money with the free dining

We usually take only 500 US for 2 weeks we budget ourselves to that if we spend it all then we are SOL and do not allow ourselves to take more out.

We take about 400.00 cash and 1,000.00 in TC to pay our bill at the resorts.The charges on your credit card are too much and the rate may go up while your there.We buy DVC points ,so the room is taken care of,we just pay for extras. I always come ome with some money,so t goes back into my US acct.

Cool.. I think I'll likely take about 200 bucks US. That should do us for tips, souveneers and the odd extra snack.

Going 11 nights with DS - I will bring about $600 USD - we are on the dinning plan, and if I need more cash, I do bring my CIBC debt card, you can get money out at a cash machine with it in the states

Hi, We will be taking about $1200.00..Planning on getting some xmas gifts, school supplies and CLOTHES!!! ..

This will be my first trip to United States and I am so excited!! I am a bit concerned about the recent events that have occurred in Europe but I will not let it affect my palnning.

Going to POP from August 19th to the 29th..
