This is our first year in Daisy's and I posted on Facebook that we have cookies for sale. Heard back from some out of town friends and I'm wondering if it's worth it to sell & ship to them or if I should suggest they wait until someone rings their doorbell.

if they are willing to pay the shipping costs.
be honest with them.. tell them 3.50 for the cookies and then shipping. might be cheaper to just buy in town.
or if you plan to see them soon. u can freeze them and take them to then when u go..

honestly i buy mine local. and my friend with the girl scout understands :)

Last year was my daughter's first year and I shipped to 2 family members. My Aunt bought 10 boxes and my sister bought 6. I didn't make them pay for shipping (spent wnough on the cookies already) and remember thinking it wasn't worth it to ship. BUT they are family and are doing it to support my daughter so I'm sure I'll be shipping more boxes next week when our cookies come in.
Another idea, you could ask them for whatever group your Girl Scout area is taking donations for (We are doing Cookies for the Military.) Maybe they would be willing to support that way, and you don't have to worry about shipping then.

I was going to say it's usually not worth it to ship the cookies. We ask our out of town relatives to buy boxes of cookies for the troops (our donation project). Grandma usually buys 4 or 5 of those and the aunts or uncles are good for 1 or 2 each.
It's a great way to help our troop (and DD), but not have to worry about shipping cookies!
Good luck with your selling!!!

We have out of town relatives buy and they just do the donation. It should be an options on your order form.. At $4.00 a box than adding shipping it gets to be to much.

Keep in mind your troop only gets about 55 cents/box (that's what ours gets). Granted most of the rest benefits the council and girl scouts, but I would never go to trouble of shipping.

We are doing a lot of Operation Cookie Drop, the military donation program, & ours go to our local military post that does a significant number of deployments.

You could just email them this link:

They could also just make a cash donation to your daughters troop. They would get more out of it than the pennies on a dollar they actually see from cookie sales.
