With a few early closings in sept and no Halloween party's scheduled I have read that there might be some private events those nights. This got me and dh thinking, how much would it cost? We both have our estimates ... Any ideas?

Good Question. I'm going to say around $500,000 ...5,000 people @ $100/head. There's probably some kind of minimum, either guests or dollars, but no idea what it would be.

Depends on what you want staffed and what you want to utilize and how many guests. For example, if you want to just rent the castle for your wedding, that's one thing. But to rent the entire park and have all the rides and attractions open, that's a whole different story.

Regardless, a typical big-corporation private event would probably be in excess of $1.5 million.

I was guessing 500,000.... No real method behind that. Just guessing

I wonder if there's a checklist of what the renter would like to have staffed or not. Like, obviously not every restaurant and gift shop needs to be open, etc.

I bet there is I wonder what attraction is the most expensive to keep open

We had to to leave one day in either Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios, but it was just one section that was rented out and I can't recall which section. It was towards the end of the night anyway, so I guess that's why it didn't bother me or stick out as much in my memory.

I bet the cost is related to the money that Disney would miss out on by having the general guest population there for that time frame. So let's say the average Friday night in mid-September has X guests and the average amount a guest pays per night to get in, eat, buy souvenirs, etc. is Y, then they would likely charge something in the XY neighborhood to rent out the place. I have no idea what these numbers are but maybe...

X = 10,000 guests
Y = $100 per guest for food, souvies, etc. (this might even be on the low side)
And as far as park tickets per day, I don't know if you really have to figure that part into the cost since WDW is already getting their park tickets paid for those who come in earlier in the day.

So my XY = $1,000,000.

I would think that the guests in attendance during the private party would still buy food, souvies which could be gravy for Disney. AND the staff needed would be markedly less than a usual day as a private party wouldn't need the help of the usual 10,000 guests - depending on the size of the party.

Well, it's clear after that little calculation that I am not an economist - lol

I wonder if Pete and John would know a ballpark number, or how the pricing is set up? Not that I would ever be able to but it is fascinating to think about :)

When I was at WDW last November, a CM was telling some of us while we waited on a parade that the MK was closing at 4:00 PM later that week for a private party, and that it would cost at least $1 million to do that.

I have had a few ex-students of mine work private events at the MK and I know that one of the events (United Health Group was the corporate sponsor) cost just in excess of 1.2 million dollars for six (6) hours of park rental time.

So much fun to think about...what would be one thing you would really look forward to? I would love to have main at/ hub area just to ourselves. And then watch wishes....

I would love to hang out at the Haunted Mansion ride and area and also Adventureland at night!

Yeah, wishes with a few hundred people chilling in the new hub area would be mind-blowing!

The early September dates were updated yesterday and are no longer 7pm closures.
