Planning our first trip to WDW and trying to figure how much a rental will be for our budget? Can we get away with a compact car with our 4.5 year old triplets? or do we need to spend more $$ on a minivan? do they provide booster seats? thanks!

Karen

well we have twins and i think a compact was way too small...we opted for a mini-van (which is what we drive at home anyway )with 2 booster seats, picking up from MCO-hertz- was $423 for the week...didnt even bother too look at anything smaller but check it out anyway;)

are you renting the car from the airport? I would say with 4 1/2 year olds you can get away with a car. We went down with 3 little ones before and just rented a car. Now that being said pick the cheapest car on the internet or over the phone and then upgrade in person. Usually they run out of the economy cars fast and upgrade for free. If your not that lucky it still is cheaper to upgrade in person. Last trip we upgrades 2 notches for only 10 bucks! How long are you looking to go for? WE are going for 10 days and ours right now is about 234 but that is the economy car, we willneed to upgrade when we get there. IT wont hurt to call around and just get an idea.

We are renting a mini-van from Budget in Nov for 2 weeks p/u and drop at MCO. We are paying 601.40. That was using Costco membership coupon codes and the operator told me that there will be coupons for $25 off a weekly rental so I am on the lookout to save another $50.
If you want the codes let me know!

We had a van in April through Dollar for $242 for the week. We didnt rent their boosters- but you can rent them there for about $10 per seat , per day. Ours was a promo code through MousaSavers.

We also have 3 kids (not triplets) and have plenty of room with full size. If the minivan is a lot more we usually do this.

check out www.mousesavers.com for all the codes.

Have fun!

Definitely check out mousesavers.com I checked there yesterday and through Dollar you can get a minivan for about $250 for a week!

For a minivan, we have paid in the ballpark of $225-$250 (we only did this once). We have rented a full size van (12-15 passenger) and it ran us anywhere from $550-$750 depending on the company (when your handicapped you can't be picky-just grateful to get a large van at all). When not having to do the full van, we have used Mousesavers for those discount codes, but sometimes we found that no codes at all get us the best price, so try them every which way online before you commit.

If you have a VISA card Alamo is having a special now that runs through October. I've reserved a minivan for two weeks in August and my total, including all taxes and fees is $431! If you go over to the Transportation board there's a thread with the discount codes.

wow ,i think im totally getting ripped off!!! these prices are soo much lower than what i was quoted...im checking mousesavers right now:mad:

It also pays to be a member of the rental car clubs. We are in the Emerald club and it seems that every third Disney trip our rental winds up being for free. Plus I like with Emerald that if you are in their club you can just walk right onto their lot and take your car without having to stop at the counter in the airport or at the stand in the parking lot. ;)

Also, check with your credit card companies (go to the websites). MANY times, you can get a great deal just because your credit card has an agreement with the company (plus, when you pay with your cc, you get the insurance for free, usually). We got a rate that was close to 50% off what the company itself was quoting online (Hertz) by booking through a link off the Citibank website.
