How much do you pay your sitter??? (DS will be 7 in January)

Umm, I think it must be a regional thing, I pay $10 - $11 an hour here.

Hope you find a great babysitter. :)

I'm not a babysitter, nor do I have children, but I think around here its 8-10. the way I see it, your leaving your children with this person, don't stiff them. ;)

I am very blessed to have plenty of family nearby, so I've never had to pay a babysitter. But my older DD13 babysits for $2.00 per hour per kid (minimum of $4.00/hr). The family she usually babysits for has 3 kids... though one of them ought to be counted twice :teeth: ...so, $6.00 an hour.

Around here it is at least $5/hour for the first child and 3-5 an hour for the second or third. It does vary, though. Neighbors next door pay my teens $10/hour whether it's for one or two of their kids. Neighbors in back of us pay I think about $7-8 for their two kids.

Oh no! well, I do need a sitter but a friend has a sitter business it goes from $9.00- $10.00 for ages 5 and up and $10.00 - $11.00 for little ones. And the parents bring the food, snacks, etc.

I live in SE Penna..... 1 hour NW of Philly. I have a sitter...she's my neighbor's daughter (across the street) and she's 14..going on 15 in Feb--I think?? Anyway, her Mom used to watch DS when he was 4-7months old before she went back to work full time and I switched DS to another daycare. This girl ALWAYS adored my son and my son "grew up" around her...
She gets him off the schoolbus for me twice a week (I'm home to get him the other 3 days) and I pay her $5 to stay with him for 20-25 minutes until DH gets home...which $5 for less than 1/2 hour is pretty decent money for her. It's just when we run into early dismissals and when she comes to watch him for several hours while we are at my Xmas party....so, I was just wondering what the "ballpark" is......my Mom usually watches him for us on the rare occassion we need it..but, I work one job with my Mom and she will be at same Xmas party....she has informed me she will NOT be "sitting" for us that night! :rotfl2: oh well.... Anyway, thanks...just looking for who is paying what in what area!

The poll doesn't go high enough LOL....its 10 an hour around here for one kid.

If she's used to being paid $5 for less than 1/2 hour, I'd pay at least $7-8 hour for a longer sit. You are paying a premium to have her get him off the bus and watch him that 1/2 hour since it's for such a short time, so I don't think you have to double that amount for an hour, but maybe split the difference.
