How much to give for graduation gift?

This is typical in our area as well.

I'm from Wisconsin also. For a casual acquaintance - $25 is my norm. My DD is in high school, so am starting to get multiple invites for graduation parties.

I coach a high school team, and when my seniors graduate, they will also get $25.

If the graduate was closer to the family - i.e. maybe the would babysit, etc. I would give more.

We just attended a graduation party for a neighbors son who graduated from the technical High School and is starting a job next week doing HVAC for a great local company. He is a great kid... mows our lawn, will snowblow our driveway while we are at work, is always good to our boys. We gave him $100. My friend's daughter's graduation party is next weekend.... we will probably give her $50.

The one time I got a graduation announcement (from a close friend's DD) I got the DD's SSN from her mom and got her a $50 savings bond (only cost me $25 - I'm cheap LOL!)

$25-$50 is good! When I graduated from high school three years ago, my friends and family gave me somewhere in that range. Plus, they gave me little gifts, like stuffed animals or made me a little photo album! :goodvibes

We have to go to a graduation party in a few weeks...its the daughter of DH's childhood friend graduating from high school. This is our first graduation party in a long long time and not sure of how much to give as a gift? Any suggestions? Whats a normal amount to give? Thanks!

My son just graduated a little over 3 weeks ago. Most of his gifts from friends of mine were $20-$25. Family was $50-$100. and let me tell you, he was thrilled with it, no matter the amount! Just do what you can!

We give $25 for friends, $50 for family. DS just graduated this weekend and he's been receiving anywhere from $20-$200. The larger amounts were from DH's bosses, which was a shock. His girlfriend's parents got him an all-in-one printer.

My standard, wedding, graduation gift is 50.00. I only give money to students graduating who are going to college, if you are just hanging out on moms couch, you don't need my money to do that.

I never have heard this before. Graduation gifts have been a tradition for at least 60 years that I know of & most people did not go to college:confused3
