How much to budget for prom?

Maryland Proms are just to expensive.
DS's was at the B&O Railroad Museum.
DS spent:
Prom tix for him and his date 180
tux rental 250
hair cut 20
flower 40
Dinner 140 Flemmings downtown
AfterProm tix 30
$650 for one night / no limo.

btw they both enjoyed after Prom the most. It was held at the local HS and had activities and drawings for items such as ipads, laptops, big screen TVs, XBox's, ski lift tix, big giftcards and a $700 cash prize.

I work the afterprom parties all night. It is a great option for kid's that might not have hundreds of dollars to spend on prom. Some just come to the afterprom and have a great time;)

Your after Prom is what our HS does after graduation. It's grad bash....
Here after prom is perhaps a home party and then a weekend at the jersey shore. My DS is past all of this :cool1:

Wow... People spend so much on prom. I had no desire to go - I'd already been to a few school dances, and came to the conclusion that they're just about the lamest thing ever, same as any school function. :rotfl:

My daughter went to three proms (yikes!). I would say on average the dresses cost $200 each, hair was $50 for an up-do/styling, and another $50 or so for shoes. The boutonniere for her dates were maybe $20. Her cousin who worked part-time as a MAC consultant did her makeup for all three proms. The tickets in all three cases were paid for by her dates.

Same here - after prom is a shore house, and a lock in after graduation.
