I'm wondering approximately how much I should budget for the drive down from the Toronto area to Orlando. I realize every car will be different, but just a ballpark figure would help. I haven't done the drive before, so I was wondering what to expect. Any help would be appreciated.

We drove down last September from London. I would budget about $120.00. We pretty well stayed at the resort the whole time except for one day at Universal Studios.
Have fun.

Hmmm ... the variables are, of course, the efficiency of your car/monstrous SUV, and the price of gas. Since people drive everything from a maxxed-out Escalade (about 12 miles to the U.S. gallon) to Smart Cars (closer to 50 MPG), estimates can be hard. But let's assume an average of 30 MPG (highway) and a $2.00 U.S. gallon (although that may be optimistic) - for your basic, 2,200 mile round-trip, that's just over $146- American. Of course, YMMV.

Which reminds me of my first drive down as an adult, back in the day. It was the '80's, with 65 cent gallons, and a Sprint that got about 45 MPG. Did the whole trip to Daytona, there and back from Windsor, for under 30 bucks ...

We used to budget around $200 and we drive our car to the parks. Now gas has gone up but the dollar is way better so you might not need that much. We drive a mini-van from Peterborough.

Today gas is at $1.73 USD per gallon. Georgia is usually a little lower than the rest of the U.S.

Here is a website that you might find helpful to estimate:

Try using this site to give you an approx. cost. It doesn't have Canadian cities, but you can find one close to where you cross the border. You input your vehicle type and it'll give you an approximate cost.
