How much $$$ to budget for food

We have two adults and twin boys who will be 15 months old. We will be at WDW for 7 full days. We are staying at the Poly and will be spending time at all the parks. What do you think would be a daily budget for the adults to eat? The boys will eat off of our plates.

You're going to get a broad range of answers to this question. Obviously, it depends on what type of meals you anticipate having - mostly counter service, mostly sit-down, character meals, buffets, etc.

On our last trip in November, my wife and 7 yo daughter averaged $18/person/day. We ate breakfast in our suite with food we bought at the supermarket. Lunch and dinner was mostly counter-service though we did a couple of nice sit-downs during our stay. Also from the supermarket, we bought snacks to carry with us during the day to cut down on the pricey in-park snacks. We still did stuff like popcorn and ice cream, though.

So bottom line, our trip cost us $54/day for food for the 3 of us.

A counter service meal will run $8 - $10 for lunch and dinner. Sit Down I would budget $15 - $20, more if you plan to have alcohol. If you are going are not going to be eating breakfast in your room I would add another $5 - $10 for counter, $15 - $20 if you for any character meals. Snacks and drinks I would add another $10 per day.

The "rule of thumb" that I have heard is $50 per day per person, is "safe." I find that to be high but to others it may be not enough.
