How much time needed to drop off car

How much time do we need to allow for dropping off our rental car at National? If our flight leaves at 11:30 am when should we get to the airport - Is 9:00 about right??

Assuming there are no problems, like damage, dropping off a rental car is a five minute job at (except maybe L and M where you have to go back to the counter)

I like to be at the airport 2 hours before my flight, so I plan 2 1/2 hours, with the extra half hour for the rental car drop off. I am always too early, but one year I was daydreaming and passed the airport, so it was good I had the extra time.
