We will be spending 6 days in Paris beginning Saturday June 26th. I have yet to book a place to stay. We have never been to France before is we definitely want to explore. How many days should I allocate to Disneyland? What are the best days to go? Should we stay in the city and commute to DLP? Is it easy to get around is a car necessary? It is myself, husband and 8 year old daughter going. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would say three days, two for the main park and one for WDS. Mid week is best Monday - Wednesday. If you commute from Paris every day the trip is around 50 mins by RER, then traveling distance to your hotel. If you want to hire a car in Paris - you will be a very brave! It's realy not worth the bother as the public transport system there is so good.

Is that 6 days including your arrival and departure days or 6 days clear ?

You should really be booking somewhere to stay asap as hotels fill up quickly in the summer months. It's best to come to DLP in the week avoiding weekends though that week you are in France will already see Spanish schools on holidays and lot's of French local vistors due to it been the end of year for university etc.

For Paris itself and for coming to DLP a car is not necessary - parking is costly and difficult in Paris itself and the metro/bus system is excellent.

Decide what you would like to see in Paris and around and depending on the number of real days you have see what is left for visiting DLP. If the city itself is your main purpose you can do DLP in a day getting there by 9.30 and finishing at park closing which last year was 11.00 pm that week as the trains run back to Paris after midnight. Concentrate on the rides that you don't have in the US and the unique aspect of the parks. If you have 2 days it's great but even with just 1 full one you can see and do a lot.

Let me put it this way. We'll be in Paris for 8 days this summer. And for planning purposes, I've allocated just one day for DLP. Yes, I know it's not enough for anything but the barest taste of DLP. But we're taking this as an educational trip for our granddaughter; to expose her to other people, places, and cultures. There's just too much to see in Paris to devote too much time to DLP, as much as I like Disney. We can always go to DLR when we get back.

I guess what I'm getting at is that different people have different priorities, and we don't know yours. You're getting advice that's appropriate if you were planning a trip primarily to DLP, with Paris on the side. If your priorities are the reverse, are are mine, you'll plan differently. 6 days is not much to see Paris; particularly if one is taken for DLP, one (presumably) for arrival day, and perhaps one for departure day.

ETA - oops, I hadn't read the post by Carrie Cat when I wrote that. I agree with her thinking (and am glad to see her say that in 1 day, you can accomplish a lot). Decide what you want to do in Paris, plan it, and then plan DLP. And if you do stay in Paris (we are), a car is a definite liability.
