How much time does it take to buy DVC at WDW?

First time owners, don't need tour and sales pitch, know exactly how many points we want to buy. Is two and a half hours between hotel pickup and dinner reservation enough time?

I would plan on the tour, it'll give you time to ask any questions of your guide and see the presentation. Tour usually last about 2 to 2 1/2 hour with your purchase. Inform them that you have a specific seating time, and at which restaurant. They can generally hurry things along and have you back in time.

We did the tour last time--this time we're buying.:dance3:

Ah, then yes, you should have time, but I would let your guide know in advance so he can have everything drawn up and ready for signatures.

All our contracts took approximately 1.5 hours to sign, with paperwork readied in advance. Allow time.

We took the tour and bought in March, 2009. We were at DVC right at 8:00 a.m. and walked out new owners at around 11:00 a.m. In our defense, though, we took our time in browsing the BLT model rooms and we certainly took time to thoroughly enjoy our ice cream social. The actual application, printing and signing of the paperwork, though, took only about 30 minutes. I think you'll be easily able to complete the process in 2.5 hours, including travel time. The DVC van will be happy to drop you off anywhere that you need to go. Let me be the first to welcome you home!! :goodvibes

It took us 90 minutes, which included sitting down with our guide and discussing the program in detail, waiting for the paperwork to be produced, and signing the paperwork.

My wife and I recently completed our purchase while at WDW during Easter and it took us about two hours. Our guide was really helpful and took us throught the whole program. Please let me know if you have any questions.

James

I would say your time allowances should work out. I would suggest not rushing the process because this is something you will remember (fondly) and talk about for the next 50 years of ownership.

Maybe telling them ahead of time that you are ready to sign on the dotted line and even know how many points you are looking to buy will help you get to that point sooner.

The best to you and let us know when you officially sign on...we are all waiting to be the first to say....Welcome Home!!!

You don't have to be onsite to buy -- you can do it all from home, rather than taking time out from your trip. Altho, I'm sure you know that, and have some reason for doing it in person while you're there. I'm sure you'd still get the current incentives (except maybe the ice cream!). (But, if you're concerned about the timeframe -- given that any kind of transport can break-down, or even at WDW accidents can happen to get in the way, you might want to allow more time -- if everything goes smoothly, I expect 2 1/2 hours is enough, but why have to stress about it?).

Remember, there are some states and countries where you can not buy from home, unless you buy resales. DVC is not approved for sales in all states.

Plus, it saves the time of going to a notary.
