We are planning a trip for the end of June 2010. How much time should we plan for Universal? Is one day enough to see pretty much everything? It will be me, my husband, and 3 daughters (14,14, and 12). We have never been to Southern CA, so have lots that we are trying to fit in!

Thanks!:)

One day is plenty of time! Get there at open, and you will be able to do just about everything you want to do.

Make sure the kids are able to play in the Ball area (Wild Thornberry's Ball Pit.... or something I think it is called). My son was 11 during our last trip, and him and I spent over an hour in that area. It was a blast!!

We are going back there next year, and can't wait to play in the ball area! Even the older kids should have fun, LOL. (I know I did....... :rotfl: )

Do get there at openning, and I recommend doing the rides on the lower level first. Most folks head straight for the studio tour so those lines are longer in the morning and die down later, while virtually no one goes down the escalators as soon in the morning. Down there are some of the biggest rides - Jurassic Park and the Mummy.

I might make a quick stop or 2 at the Simpson's ride before going down to the lower level - that line gets very long and it's worth riding more than once!
A day is plenty.

I so agree with going to the lower level first!

We did this in April, when spring break crowds were at a peak.
We went straight to Simpsons, and walked right on the ride.
On weekdays the lower lot opens 30min after the rest of the park, so we had a 5 minute wait until we could access the lower lot.
We went straight to the Mummy and rode 3 times in a row (it was so much fun)!
Then we rode Jurassic Park, and checked out some shows on the lower lot.
Heading back upstairs, we went to the Terminater show, followed by water world.
That was all done before lunch.
After that it was no problem. The park was busy, but we had no waits since all the big rides had been done already.
About 2pm we headed to the trams and waited 5-10 min for the tram tour.

Definately, 1 day will cover everything. We have taken the VIP tour the last couple of years and there is not much left to do after 1600.

Just what I was looking for!:woohoo: We're going during spring break, the week before Easter, in fact.
Thanks.

All good information - I presume summer weekend crowds will be at a similar level to this.

I had planned originally to do the tram tour first but now seems like leaving it until the afternoon would be best - how long does the attraction take - I am trying to work out how late in the afternoon we can leave it. What time would the park close approx in summer - we would be staying till the end, or thereabouts.

Would two days be too much. My girlfriend and I go-go-go whenever we are on vacation. It's just in our blood. HA! At WDW we averaged 10+ miles a day of just pure walking. :D

Anyway, I would think about doing two days. One to do everything as much as possible, then the other to go back and do everything as much as possible. That wouldn't be overkill like 3 days would be would it?
