how much spending $ would you assume?

That's $100 a day without the dining plan. The dining plan costs more than we spend on food for the trip. Breakfast is usually someting we get at the resort. The rest of the day is counterservice at the parks because we don't want to waste time with long sit down dinners when we can be out having fun. These things bring the cost of eating down to under $50 a day. With your dining plan, unless you plan to buy many t-shirts etc. $750 should be fine.

Has anyone heard of free sundae's somewhere at WDW? Someone mentioned them on another thread but they didn't respond when I asked them where they got the sundaes. Any ideas???

We are a family of 4 and I budget $100/day for food. We'll eat breakfast at the hotel and then grab either a late lunch or early dinner (table service) and then have a late night snack back at the hotel if we still have the munchies. As for souveniers, the kids are allowed $25/day at the parks with money they earned during the year (birthdays, chores, etc). Once they spend it, it's gone. If they have any left over then it goes towards the next day. I'll pay for any clothing they may want; they pay for the little trinkets. In addition to that I also figure approx. $200/day for souveniers. I never spend all that but it's good to have "just in case". I would rather pay with cash than using a debit or credit card because I find I spend faster w/a card and then would get "sticker shock" when the bill would come in.

If I were planning your trip for you (I'm a planner...)
Given your exact situation (dining plan, DS,...)
I would have you take $100 per day.
Since you'll be there 11 days... I'd go ahead and make it $1200 total - that will help with that last day not covered on the dining plan.
But everyone has to take what they can - when its gone - then you just can't buy any more souvineers. Just make sure you have enough to eat and to get back home.

DH and I are taking $500 each for our 7 day 6 night trip. Part in cash - part on our debit cards.

Good luck - happy planning :sunny:

we usually allow about $100 per person for souvenirs ( we really use most of that for things for those at home since we have found we don't really use the trinkets we buy there so only buy a few things for ourselves)and about 50 per adult person per day for food( not on ddp )...with the ddp you might need a little cash for food in case you see a snack you want that isn't on the plan or if you eat 3 meals a day( we don't) or if you want to leave an additional tip. most things you can put on your room card so you really don't need to carry more than probably $20-50 in cash with you

I usually travel with a ds(12), and budget $100 per day not on the dining plan. My ds usually has his own spending money...anywhere from $10-$30 a day that he has saved/earned. We usually eat breakfast in the room (grocery stop), usually have one table service meal and snacks. We usually travel in the hot summer months so we don't eat nearly as much as we would if it was cooler nd the table service is usually a very late lunch/early dinner, or a late breakfast. This does not include any cash budgeted for transportation (we use a towncar...need the grocery stop), bell services or mousekeeping (usually keep all that budgeted seperately). We usually budget about $75 more on the first day...need those refillable mugs and for anything we forgot, plus the few things we get at the grocery. Then I use my debit card on the last day for any last minute souvie/shopping we want to do.

I personally think your $750 will be plenty for breakfast and souvies...unless you really like to shop or in to high price collectibles.

about $500 in Disney Reward Points and another $500 in cash for 10days/9 nights w/dining plan. Kids are older (21 & 15) & are getting Disney Dollars and a Visa gift card for Easter ($100 each total) then whatever else they bring (or weasle out of me!) This works out to about $100 per day & I don't really expect to spend all of that. Will also have our Visa card for emergencies. Hope this helps!

Granted, we don't have kids yet, so I may be way off, but I can't imagine spending $100 or more a day on TOP of the dining plan! Especially considering it's just one adult and one child. I think how much you should bring depends on two things. 1.) Will you be eating another meal out each day beyond the 1TS and 1CS you get with the plan? 2.) How important are souveniers?

We usually grab something quick in the room in the morning Muffins and fruit or granola bars), then have a snack at the parks mid-morning, and do a CS for lunch and a TS for dinner. If you do it that way, I would guess you'd need maybe $10-15/day for snacks and drinks above the dining plan. If you decide on a CS for another meal, then I'd say add about $15-20 a day on top of that. TS would obviously be more. You can spend as much or as little on souveneirs as you choose. We've gone and bought many things and we've gone and bought none. Also, don't forget a few $$ a day for tips, like for housekeeping of bell services.

Hope this helps!

We are not big on souveniers at WDW so I am budgeting about $50-75/day, and that includes snacks and souveniers. My kids are young and they have no expectations about getting a bunch of "stuff" while we are at WDW. I figure they might get mouse ears, autograph books, t-shirts and perhaps one other item. I don't really have much interest in buying stuff for myself and neither does DH.

I have to agree. DH and I are doing the DDp for the 1st time this trip, and budgeted 75 p/p per day. We have a DS 21 months old, and we go to WDW about 2-3 times a year so we are not huge souvenir people...that gives us enough to get somethings, but we don't go nuts!

It depends on how much you want to buy I guess...
