I know it's different for every family, but I need a rough guide of how much spending money we will need for our trip next month.

There are 4 of us; 2 adults, a 12 year old and a toddler and we're staying in a villa, so will be eating breakfast indoors before going out and may stay in a few nights for dinner/BBQ.

We do have some ADR's booked which I know can be expensive, although I can't find out just how much they are each, the website says FROM $$$.

  • Crystal Palace breakfast with Pooh
  • Teppan Edo Dinner
  • Tusker House Breakfast
  • Ohana dinner

We will also be driving over there. We have platinum insurance so will get a free tank of fuel and will split the cost with my mum and dad who are also coming with us. I would like to buy some souveniers when out there, photo albums and frames and maybe some cfabric from Joanns.

Roughly roughly... how much spending money would you take under these circumstances?

I work on around $120 per day - plus individual spending money for gifts etc. Also don't forget parking is around $14 per day.

We normally stay in a villa and eat cereal and toast before going out, but then eat lunch and tea out.

for menu prices try http://allears.net/menu/menus.htm#tl as for how much to spend? as little or as much as you can.that piece of string is an indeterminable length. For us we buget £100 ($160)per day for a family of 4, have always come back with spare

If I had to de that budget for myself I would allow (per day and for your party of 4)

- $10 breakfast (milk, OJ, and whatever you'll care to eat) I'd even throw another $5 in for more groceries, and especially beverages (add even more if you care for a cold beer at night)
- $15 for parking at Disney's
- $25 to $30 for lunch or dinner (mostly fast food joints)
- $40 for a fancier restaurant for the remaining meal of the day (or BBQ meat and stuff)
- $5 gas (based on an average 21mpg for the car, and taking into account your initial tank of gas - depending on how far your villa is, you may very well drive in excess of 40 miles/day, going to the park, shopping for groceries, going to restaurants, and so on) also includes optional toll fees, and that you split the gas cost.
- $20 for gifts

add to that :
- $90 on average for your ADRs, times 4 = $360

So my basic estimate is at a very strict minimum of $120 per day + $360

For a 14 days (assuming) trip, I would consider $120 * 14 + $360 = $2040

I'd add a safety cushion of 10% to a total of $2244

this is roughly the same estimate as PP

at the current exchange rate I would not plan for less than £1500 (£107/day) in spending money for a 14 days stay, but I'd probably come back with some cash to spare

Our circumstances are the same as yours (family of 4, 2 kids aged 12 and 3-staying in a villa, few expensive meals, breakfast in the villa etc) and we are budgeting for a minimum of £100 a day, anything we can save/take above this is a bonus.
Have a great time :goodvibes

I think £100 a day is a good figure - should be plenty.

Don't forget parking costs - $14 or $15 a day.

Thank you to everyone who replied, but especially for working all this out for me!!

This is the sort of figure I had in mind, but wasn't sure if would be enough. We're going with my mum, dad and sister, so for a party of 7 we will also be charged 18% gratuity at restaurants too which I also take into consideration.

I's say around £100 ish a day too but it depends on what you want to do. For some, staying in a villa, no adrs etc £50 could do. Others who eating out twice a day at least and love shopping might need £150 or more.

I'm currently saving our spending money for our October trip, adding around $100 to my travel card every week. I'm well aware we'll be taking 'too much' but then we have no credit cards so including in our spending money is the 'just in case' money for emergencies, accidents, etc that we won't be able to put on a credit card.

So we have $2700k saved now and if we stick to adding $100 a week (23 weeks left) that's another $2300 so we'll hopefully be taking $5k, making an average of $350 a day BUT we have a lot of ADR's booked and probably won't be going again for a good few years so we want to make the most of everything there, plus having enough to cover extras :D

I always feel more comfortable the more money I have so go with what you think you'll need and add some more :D

Me and Mrs Jim1 are looking to be taking $4000 between us.

We're staying at a villa and don't plan to eat out every day, taking an empty suitcase though :thumbsup2

Already paid for car and all park tickets

between £100 and £150 per day - even if you go over on a couple of days the pool days normally even you out.
And then of course you do to the world of Disney store and the the budget all goes to pot :thumbsup2

This. I have my budget... Then double it to include this store... Then ignore the budget and use my credit cards :rotfl:
