I am not talking about a disney vacation. I mean money for eating out, activities in the area, souvineers. We are in a villa so will be cooking meals.

Depends on what type of vacation and for how long.
A couple years ago we went to Hampton Beach (New Hampshire) for 5 days and spent about $1200 for everything - food, hotel, etc. This was for 3 adults and 1 child (DD was 18 months at the time).

Now this coming vacation is Disney and it is a considerable amount more. We have hotel, dining plan, tickets, air all paid for and will have about $1800 in additional spending money for 8 nights.

Everything is paid for including groceries. I have $150 in Publix gift cards. We will probably eat out a few lunches and a few dinners for 4 of us. Going on a shelling/snorkel excursion which is $124 for all of us. DD will be horseback riding on the beach with DS for $200. I am planning on taking $1200. Is that enough? We will be there for 9 days.:cool1:

I take restaurant gift cards , gas gift cards and 800 cash with me and credit card.

I also bring snacks and drinks from since we drive. We come to souvenirs we don't buy many at all.

I usually take about 1200 for spending plus set aside an extra 1k for emergencies.

When we go on a Disney vacation, we don't do other area activities like the airboat rides, Gatorland, etc. We just do Disney, so there are no other admission fees.

We're not big on souvenirs. Maybe a t-shirt or magnet and some ride photos. I think we never spend more than $100 per person in a week.

Food can be all over the place with prices. We could spend a bundle on signature meals or do counter service the entire vacation. We get the dining plan for convenience sake and go from there. It's just the tips that we have to take into consideration. I estimate about $5-$8 per person per table service meal with a higher dollar amount for the signature restaurants. If you plan to cook breakfast and dinner and then pack lunches to bring to the parks, I would take the weekly grocery budget and add another half to it to account for convenience foods and additional snacks.

I need more information.

For us, it depends on where we are going and how long we'll be away. It also depends on the kind of vacation it is. A week at the beach? Not so much. A place where we'll probably never go again, much more.

So it could be as much as several thousand or as little as a couple hundred.
