How much should I budget for Miscellaneous/souveniers?

Heading to DisneyWorld in 19 days for the very first time with my 5.5 yo son, and wanted to get an idea of how much to budget.

We're on the Dining Plan, so everything is paid for regarding meals (we're bringing snacks and portable breakfast foods, etc) and I plan to hit the Disney Store to pick up a few t-shirts to give him on the trip so I don't have to pay the higher prices at the parks, but I will let my little guy get some souveniers (ears of course, and whatever he wants within reason).

It's just the two of us, and again, I've never been, not sure what to expect for miscellaneous costs and such. Any input would be great!

We're staying on prem, so no car/taxi/etc.

hopefully a 5 year old won't be into the expensive stuff.

so I would say $20 a day....

just depends upon you and your budget.

well it all depends.

will your snack credits be used for a water or an ice cream? So you may spend a little on extra drink or snack.

What about pictures of you on the rides? that's at least $15.00 for 1 pic ride

most things aren't cheap there. Even a hat or maybe a stuffed animal you are still looking at $10.00 or more for any of that stuff.

so alot of it depends on what you allow him to buy or what he actually wants. Once the kids see the light up things for sale during the night shows..watch out...they are exspensive $15.00+

well my it's just my hubby and i and i budgeted $250.00 for 4 night 5 days

I am allowing my 3 girls $20.00 each per day. They can only buy in the afternoon after they have seen everything. Things like pictures and snacks are mom and dads responsibility. The girls have been saving thier own money and get to decide how to spend it.

I gave my 5 & 8 yo $25 a day. It was more than enough.

Wow you guys spend a lot on souv's don't tell my kids. The last trip my son who was 5 got a really nice wooden rifle at mgm @$24,(still plays with it constantly 2 yrs later) a buzz gun that looks like you use on buzz @$15. , about 5 little star wars guys totalling $20. and the straw from his frozen lemonade in AK and we were there 10 days. My older DD got a charm bracelet and a princess charm at each park and a few pins. My DS wasn't going to get the Buzz gun but since he scored in the top category totally po-ing his sister we couldn't resist. I totally believe you could get by with $50.-$70 per child for the vacation for souvenirs. Snacks and drinks I'd plan about $10.-$15/day depending on how many hours you would be there. Almost forgot he did get a little gator at gatorland.

The past two times we have gone to Disney, the children (now 4 and 7) have brought their own money for souveniers. They have a certain amount to spend for the trip (the first time this was over $150 each that was collected in change jars) and they can decide whether or not what they want warrants purchasing. Each time, they both returned with a significant amount of money. I think if you tell them that they can spend $25 a day, they will...maybe on stuff they will never look at again...but if they feel it is their money, they might be a little more prudent.
