How much planning do I need to do?

Hello all, my DF and I are going to arrive 4/2/04, and I noticed alot of people going in April have PS made, I haven't even planned what park/what day we're going to visit. I wasn't planning on making an itinerary down to the last minute until we check out, but after reading some of these post I feel like I should. Do I need to get in gear and start, or just go with the flow like I planned? I've heard that the week before Easter is really crowded and I want to enjoy this trip as much as possible, and I fell like if I plan everything out, it'll add more stress to an otherwise relaxed trip...am I wrong? Help please!

I called last week to make our ps's for the week Feb6 -Feb16. I could not get half of the places/times I wanted. ie. We had decided to try Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner this trip. Only midweek dinner PS I could get there was 3:45 pm. Brown Derby was the same thing. We could have a ps for 4:00. My husband is not going to want to eat dinner at 3:45. I had to make changes and did not get all that I wanted.

A problem that complicated things was a CM who did not seem to know much about dining at Disney. AMong other things I was told by the CM that Crystal Palace did not serve breakfast. When I told her I had eaten breakfast there a bunch of times, she told me I must be confusing it with someplace else. ARGH! I had to call back three times to get everything I wanted. Disney really needs to work on this.

I think you should call now.

If I were you , I would come up with a rudimentary itinerary of what park you'll do on which day and what major attractions you want to do on each day. That way you can plan your dining priority seatings. I wouldn't do a minute-by-minute itinerary--- they don't allow for spontaneous fun or relaxing usually.

Remember, most PSs can be made 90 days out, so your dates are probably open for dining reservations now.

When I did DIsney the first time I paid attention to my surroundings. I did a lot of research on the net and read tour guides. I used the tour guide to give me basic info on where to go. I seen lots of people spending a great deal of time trying to figure out what to see or where to go and how to get to it. THis is just plain fun knowing where you are going.

I would plan out which parks, which days and quickly get started from there. 1st decide if you will be going to the EMH park on that day or not and then start planning for PS's. (Remember, if you will be using Early Entry - try to make your Breakfast seating times late 10:15-10:30 so as not to cut into your "prime ride hour". There are very few that you will have to hold or pay for ahead of time i.e Cinderalla Royal Table Breakfast and Princess Storybook breakfast. Those need to be cancelled 24 or 48 hours in advance (can't remember which). If you make others and decide not to go or wind up in with a change of plans, you can always call and cancel your ps - even the same day up to the last minute. (Someone walking up without a ps will gladly fill your spot).

My first trip to WDW I wandered aimlessly looking for food, attractions, show times. I was totally clueless. NEVER AGAIN. Rather safe than sorry. There is nothing worse than being hungry and finding somewhere to eat but there is not room, so you waste even more time wandering to the next restuarant. And there is nothing better than knowing that after a "hard day at the theme parks" your nice comfy table at the restuarant is waiting to welcome you.

Plan, Plan, Plan. Your family will thank you later.:D
