We, (me, DW, DS-9 and DD-7) are using the dining plan for the first time this year. How much should I budget per day for the family on top of the DDP?
I usually budget around $100/day without the plan. That's about what we'll be spending on the plan but we'll eat at nicer places than we would without it.

Truly, the only food items that we paid for above the DDP were alcohol and specialty desserts (like Cinderella's slipper at Narcoossee's). I thought we would need to supplement for breakfast sometimes, or even snacks, but the DDP gave us plenty to eat all day. We even used a couple of snack credits for bottles of water one day. We brought cereal from home, but didn't need that. I think you'll stay plenty full!

I agree. You won't need any extra $$ for food. We only spent money on adult beverages, and an extra tip when warrented.

We hardly used any extra money as well. We thought it would be hard having only 1 snack credit per day but we ended up with 7 snack credits on the last day. You just get a lot of food with the plan and your not hungry for any extras!

We bought soda OOP last year. I didn't want to "waste" a snack credit on a bottle of soda. At most, for the 4 of us, we spent no more than $6.00 per day.

Wow. That sounds great. I hope it works out that way. Thanks for the replies!:thumbsup2

We've been on the DDP two years in a row and hardly spend any money out of pocket. Sometimes, when we wanted a hearty breakfast, I would purchase our breakfast out of pocket at our resort food court. Other than that, there really much else we had to buy.
