How much Oop $ Do You Bring?

I don't bring much cash but I do keep my debit card handy. We don't buy a lot, so that's probably a good thing! A day at MK, for example, would include Dole Whips for us (and sometimes a return trip later that day), maybe something from the bakery or a soft pretzel. We don't buy much merchandise because it is just too expensive. When the kids were younger, we got suckered into buying light up toys, plush animals, etc. Now we bring glow necklaces from Walmart ahead of time. 12 for $3. Can't beat that. The dining plan will help you since you won't need to spend money on food.

This is the first time I am using the DDP and I, too, am curious about the money needed for cash. When I have gone for a week in the past I have spent about $1,200 that would've have been for all meals and souvenirs. Since I am not much of a souvenir type of person, however, I do like to do things like the Segway Tour and rent boats.

Wow. I really don't know what to expect. We are not on a dining plan because it does not seem like something that would work out for us. This is our first trip so we will see. We have ordered water, juice and some snacks.
I was planning on allowing each child, DD6 and DD12 $100 each to use as they pretty much wish for the duration of our trip. Seems like that may not be enough huh?
This seems like a good bit of money to me but since we will be on vacation, I figured we should let our hair down a little. Wasn't thinking much about how much we might need for other things. We would need money for ice cream an stuff I suppose. I figured about $50-$100, if that should be enough for the four of us. We are spending 7 days and this does not include actual meals. Is that realistic?
And I have been reading about shopping for sovies at outlets and stuff. That sounds great! Would love to know how I can get to these places.

I bring $1,000 that I've set aside specifically for Disney, that way I don't feel guilty about spending money that should go to bills, etc. Last year I spent $800 of that (on souvenirs, tips, and some extra food) and didn't feel like I deprived myself at all!

We're on the DDP, so nothing for food (except is we go to T-Rex, somewhere like that). My DH has his own pin budget ($30/day I think???), and he buys pins for all of us. Me and the kids don't really care one way or another, but DH likes to keep us "pinned up" he says lol. We do trade a little.

We have a daily tip budget (varies depending on how often we get our room cleaned, and what TS meals we're eating).

Finally, each of our kids (ages 10 & 5) have a $25/day souvenir budget. Sounds miserly, but after all these trips, the Disney souvenirs have taken over the joint, and I'm not going to haul back ANOTHER stuffed animal that will gather dust. The budget makes them think long and hard about what they want, and helps them learn to be responsible for their own money.

I think I have a budget too (maybe $200???). I don't even know. I usually get t-shirts for everyone, maybe a coffee mug (I broke my Mary Poppins mug a couple of months ago...sniff...sniff), or souvenirs for other fam members. And I never spend it all, so I don't even really know how much DH sets aside for me.

We're there from Sat to Sat, and I think our grand total (not including food-DDP) is $1300??? Again, that's tips, pins, souvenirs, and a little emergency cash. I think we could easily do with maybe $1000-1100, but DH likes to have a bit of cushion. Ya never know.

Oh boy, we are on the loooooow end of the spectrum I think. We got the disney dining and so for souveniers we will have $400 for our stay. (Well plus $150 for food outside of disney dining)
The last time I went I spent about $200-250 myself on food and souveniers for seven days. Soooo maybe I'm just cheap?:confused3

In November, I carried $20 cash each day for water and snacks for 3 of us so I didn't have to worry if a cart had a card machine or not. I brought tips for housekeeping separately (with the money in a separate envelope for each night to make it easy).

We didn't have DDP, so I had gift cards with $1000 food for 10 nights (had a little left over that we used up on souvies).

Souvies went on the credit card with a budget of $1000. It was our second trip, so we did better than the 1st trip, but still spent a lot on the picture packages at character meals, etc. and DD7 started collecting pins. We still came home under budget.

I"m right there with ya...we spent a total of about $400 on room charges last year over 8 nights...and that included 2 pirate and princess makeovers and 2 Pirate Adventure cruises at the Grand Floridian and all of the tips for the Dining Plan and anything else OOP for food.
We just don't buy much merchandise. The kids started collecting pins last trip but that was really all we bought. I just don't get excited about merchandise.

I should say that the $1300 is a TOTAL. We're eating at T-Rex, which is like $150, and I think we've budgeted about $300 for travel. So, that leaves $850 for tips/souvenirs/misc??? And I think we'll come home with some (laugh if you will :rotfl2:). My husband is worse than the kids when it comes to Disney souvies, so maybe not...

As a family of five, we plan on $100 a day. We use the Disney Dining Plan for our meals during the day, so really you are only spending money on souvenirs, tips, etc.

In addition, we send down a box or two of food to our hotel, this way we have waters and breakfast foods without spending extra money.

Enjoy your trip.
