Inspired by the bedspread/neck tie threads.

How do you feel/deal with situations in your everyday life and whilst on vacation?

On a scale of 1-10

1 being = Couldn't care less, germs are everywhere

10 being = 100% germaphobic

The higher the number goes the worse you are about germs!

I wouldn't consider myself a germaphobic until my 77 year old father-in-law moved in with us. That would convert anybody! I always liked keeping a clean home before, but now I'm always following his footsteps with those Lysol wipes in hand! I can't even mention the bathroom 'issues' he has!

He eats a glazed donut every morning and I'm always wiping crusty, dried glaze off the refrigerator, kitchen door handles, etc... but yesterday I went to pet my cat and....you guessed it. He glazed my cat!!!!

Calgon....take me away!

I try to take basic precautions, whether at home or when traveling. I always wash my hands well after using the restroom and I then attempt to avoid touching the public restroom door. I try to wash before eating and when I can't I at least try to wipe with a Purell wipe. I also step up prevention about a week before a trip to maybe increase the odds that I don't start a trip out sick. That's about the extent of my worries about germs.

I have 4 children who seem to have good resistance to germs--my youngest, 4yo DS, has only had the normal colds and stomach viruses and has NEVER had a sick dr visit (now watch, we'll be there this week).

T&B

I am an absolute 10! Germaphob is DH nick name for me. He thinks I have mental illness.

I'm a 2. There are few things that bother me. Germs are not one of them. However, I'm a 2 and not a 1 cause I won't let any animals lick me! Not even cats. I'm sorry, but their tongues have been everywhere including their privates! You think I'd let them anywhere near my body??????:earseek:

Oh, btw... you ain't seen nothing yet until you've lived in a third world country!!!!

Hey, were you eaves-dropping on DH & me having a conversation yesterday in our kitchen? ;)

I was telling him about the "bedspread" thread  and third world countries was mentioned pretty often!!! :p

I'm a 1....I snuggle up in the hotel bedspread.....

I am a certifiable germaphobic. I wash my hands after I touch anything and carry anti-bacterial spray/gel with me everywhere I go.

I wash my hands when I'm supposed to, but I'm not very scared of germs. Mom's a total germophobe, and it's believed that's why I have such bad allergies. I take the normal precautions, but I don't obsess over stuff. I also leave hotel bedspreads on the bed, and don't hesitate to use them. And I walk around hotel rooms barefoot.

I'm in the upper realm of the germaphobe rankings.
I get skeeved out pretty easily. I always wash my hands before I eat (which I think is normal), carry anti-bacterial wipes, use flip flops in hotel rooms and showers and never touch a bathroom doorknob if I can help it.

I don't think my cautiousness stops me from doing anything, but I am pretty easy to skeeve out! DH thinks I'm nuts at times (LOL), and my brother is forever making fun of me and my anti-bacterial wipes.

"I went to pat my cat and you guessed it.....he glazed the cat"
I couldn't help it-that broke me up!!

I am more of a germaphobic than I used to be. I am very careful to keep my hands away from my face and when I've been out touching doors, doorknobs, any public "stuff" I wash my hands as soon as I get home. I really believe it helps to keep the colds away.

I'm not bad. I'm a frequent hand washer, but you won't see me carrying hand gel or wipes and disinfecting everything. I figure, I've lived this long - and I've touched ALOT of things in my life, and I've not yet died of Handrailicitis or anything.:p

I have to admit - I'm an 8!!!

 GG!

I always have to wash my hands thoroughly after touching any animal and I'd never let them on my furniture, especially my bed - ewwww! :faint:

...apart from that I'm not neurotic about germs, bedspreads and ties!!! ;) :teeth:

Sorry, I have so many germaphobes in my family it's made me the complete opposite.

I cannot stand being around them.

On the other hand, I rarely take precautions and have fewer colds or viruses than any of them and my son has had one cold/sickness in 3 years. Their families have them REGULARLY.

Did you know this... :magnify: :p ;)

Desk germs: Your office desktop is 400 times dirtier than a toilet seat. The average desk has 21,000 bacteria per square inch, or 8,400 per square centimeter, while the average toilet seat has only 50. That's because we don't clean our desks well, or at all, and we do scrub toilet seats. Or at least most of us do. Gross, yes. Dangerous, probably not. These bacteria don't cause colds and flu.

I used to be a 10+ but now I'd say I'm an 8.

I really had to adjust when we traveled through Italy last March and the public restrooms had no toilet seats. And you had to pay to use them . ;)

I just had to tell myself, "When in Rome..." :p
