How much noise from connecting rooms?

I'm currently booked into 9512 on the Fantasy for the Eastern cruise in February. I was looking at those pictures of the outside with numbers on it, and it looks like the obstruction on 8520 is pretty significantly less...however it's a connecting room. (9512 is not.) Not having dealt with a connecting room on a ship before, I'm curious what people's experience with them when someone they don't know is next door. I know at WDW I've occasionally experienced a good deal of noise - and even kids knocking - on the door.

What are people's experiences with connecting rooms on board? And/or with 9512 vs. 8520 and the obstructions?

My preference would have been 9000 or 9500, but all the 8Bs are at GTY status, and I'd rather ensure I'm as far forward as possible, so 7A - and either 9512 which I'm in or 8520 which is currently open - it shall be.

Thanks!

Never heard a thing never saw a white cap. You will have a great trip stop worring and have a great cruise. Was a connecting room with 9058.

We rarely heard noise from the next room. Usually when people were near the bathroom area. You hear more noise from the hallway than your connecting door.

The only time I've heard any noise from a connecting room is when they're having a fight, or a child is having a tantrum. Otherwise, it's quiet - much quieter than connecting doors at a hotel typically are.

Thanks all. I've decided to stay with 9512 - leave the one with slightly less obstruction for maybe a family or something. :)

And keep stalking the website to see if by chance 9000 or 9500 opens up. ;) Not sure why I didn't just book one of those to begin with (at least one of them WAS available when I booked) other than the 3 sea days and thinking hanging on the balcony some on those might be fun. :confused3

It'll be fine! It'll be DISNEY!!!!

Was on the Fantasy in 6144 last October which is a connecting room. Never heard any noise. In fact, at first I thought no one was booked in the connecting room, until one day I saw the family coming out of the room.

We were in 9056, which has a connecting door. It's also near the stairs and elevators, and we heard NO noise from there.

We did hear a little noise from the connecting room, to be honest. They were, I believe, a boisterous family of 4 or 5 with young boys, and whenever they'd come back into the room en masse, there'd be a flurry of running noises and bumping around. But -- and this is the good news -- honestly, it wasn't much to speak of. Only some thumps and noise, we couldn't hear voices, and I'm betting the kids were tearing around and yelling, and yet we still heard only a little bit of footsteps and doors opening/closing.

In other words, I'm saying that even though unlike PP we did hear noise, it wasn't much -- and I think that's the worst case scenario.

Enjoy your cruise! We loved being on the 9th deck, very convenient.

i, on the other hand, really think it is more who the family is in the adjoining cabin. we did a b2b last year and in the first week we heard nothing. it was like no one was there and maybe there wasn't however i thought i saw someone go in.

second week was a whole different story. mother, father, son, daughter and they were noisy. the parents didn't yell but they talked loudly to the children, mostly the girl. the boy was always getting into stuff but for some reason she was always getting the blame. i know this because thats how loud they were. the boy knocked on our door a couple times and when dad told him to stop he said he wanted to.

it got to the point where dh and i were using their names when they were in their cabin. 'looks like jimmy can't find his car again', 'you should go tell sally that jimmy put her towel in the bottom drawer'. 'yes, jimmy ate the chocolate, don't' blame sally'. just funny jokey stuff.

point is if the family is loud you will probably hear them.

I've had a connecting room twice and only once during the day when I was standing right next to the door I heard some young kids laughing. It wasn't loud and it was only for a moment. I never heard any noise during the evening when I would sleep.

We were 8070 with a connecting door and not only could we hear hurricane level snoring, the poor guy was in the bathroom vomiting, violently, 3-4 times a day! :confused3 Why he never went to the health center, we do not know but nearly every time we were in our room, he was throwing up.

Of our 3 cruises with a connecting door we have heard noises from the other room 2 times. One time was really bad, with loud children, parents and baby crying at all hours of the day. the other time was minimal. i agree with pp, it will completely depend on who you get next door.

It's possible he had health issues that weren't solvable by visiting the health center. Some medications, treatments of certain medical conditions cause vomiting.

And, in reality, you're going to hear those noisy people, whether you have a connecting door or not. It's not any different than being in a hotel. Those interior walls are typically not soundproofed, door or not.

We were in room 8600 on the Fantasy this past April which is a connecting room. We heard not a peep from either room next to us. Never heard much hallway noise either.

I have never had any issue but a poster on another forum reported hurricane snoring next door.

LOL! Great description! We had this experience on the Magic once but the offender was in the non-connecting room. I found the Fantasy to be much better with sound compared to the classic ships. We didn't hear any noise from either room next to us or the hallway.

Whenever people bring up snoring I feel so bad. I have 2 members of our group who snore but can't help it. They have done everything (one even including surgery) and are not eligible for CPAPs because it isn't sleep apnea. We've never had anyone complain but I do feel terrible to know our group may cause someone lost sleep. Maybe it isn't as bad as I think though since I know you can't hear them through our thin apartment walls.

Our last two cruises we had a connecting room close to the elevator and had no problems with noise from either. Our upcoming cruise is same type of stateroom and location and we are not worried at all about noise.

:)

I have never personally experienced it but its a lady who used to post here a lot and she is on another forum and stated she had to complain about it to the staff, but not sure what they could do on a full boat.

Earplugs? :confused3

I have 8034 in three weeks it has connecting doors but as a large room unlikely to hear next door.
