How much luggage?

I would pack 2 large suitcases and a big carry on, but include a large empty duffel bag that you can use in case you come back with more stuff (which you will, or at least we do, stuffed animals take a lot of space LOL!). You get one checked bag for free per person with southwest, so you don't want to risk having to pay for extra luggage on the way back. I am a fan of packing a decent size carry on with at least one change of clothes for everyone, and anything you think you may need in the first two days, just in case your luggage gets lost.
I thought that it was two checked bags on southwest?

Very true - the thought of being a pack mule was part of what prompted my original question. Am currently debating the "Grand & Supremely Important Stroller Conundrum - Rent or Take My Own?" - In much the same spirit, I was just thinking it would be nice to rent so I don't have to screw with hauling it at the airport, but am enough of a cheapskate that I might take my own. :)

The great thing about staying at Disney is you don't have to be a pack mule ;) we checked 3 bags but the only time we saw them was in our home airport thanks to Magical Express. I say pack what YOU feel comfortable with, there is no written or unwritten rule as to how much luggage someone should take on vacation and there are no awards for person who can bring the least amount of luggage on vacation.

I was mostly worried about not having enough luggage for all of her crap, both going and coming, since we've never really done a "big" trip with her.

I'm not very good at visualizing how much will fit in a suitcase, and DH and I usually pack really light and don't mind "doing without" if we forget something minor. DD is not so laid back, so I'm over-thinking everything. :)

The general consensus seems to be that the six suitcases I have access to should be more than enough, and that was what I needed to know, in the end. :)

Rather than buying another set, I used part of those funds to get the portable re-chargers for our phones, and can apply the rest to compression bags now. :)

Remember her clothes are little. We (four of us) have 22 inch wheeled carry on bags and that is what we use most of the time. We travel a lot and have gotten really good. We rarely bring any clean clothes home, but only a couple times have I had to wash out a piece or two and may once or twice both a destination t-shirt or two extra and that has been out of MANY trips. Our favorite airline has great prices but charges for luggage and we just don't need that. We have boys so of course don't have the princess dresses and we just don't buy much stuff so it works.
