How much longer will DVC be available

Someone on another thread said that the newest resort will be sold out by the end of the year. Does this sound right? We were hoping to join DVC, but for many reasons, not for another 3 years or so. Will the option be gone by then? I guess we could always buy resale...

The option to purchase at SSR may be gone by then, but there is speculation that DVC will be working on other resorts. There were plans to build Eagle Pines but they were put on the "back burner" for SSR, IMO just because they had something to work with, with the empty Disney Institute and it's my understanding EP was to built from scratch.

Hopefully you will get in, if not directly then through a resale.

I'd like to see that thread! They haven't even finished the first four buildings at SSR, and they have 8 more to start. I simply can't imagine that the entire SSR will sell out in 10 months - I'd bet it takes a few years.

Barring any dramatic (and I mean REALLY dramatic) upturn in sales, DVC will be selling SSR points for at least 4-5 years. Likely it will be even longer than that. SSR is slated to be the largest DVC property and won't even be fully developed until late 2005.

No guarantees on what the prices might be in that time. I don't have exact figures handy but it seems prices have gone up about 15-20% since we first became aware of DVC in 2002.

If it goes to the full 600 units, I predict 8-10 years but I'd think 6-8 would be the minimum it would still be available. Still, the price will climb in the usual Disney way.

Ummm... I think I might owe you an apology ... that sounds a lot like one of my posts on the VMO thread (Villas at Mars Outpost). It was a joke. It wasn't meant to be serious. The whole thread and all of the comments on it were a spoof and not based on DVC reality.

I agree with Dean with the 8-10 year projection on SSR sales. But I don't see it going any more than that. In 10 years, SSR contracts will still have 40 years on them....all other current ones will have 28 years. I think that 12 year spread will become very important as the years go by.
