It definitely could use some work. (Making the yeti a little more prominent for example.) It goes pretty fast the majortity of the time, and goes backwards for a short period. It really isn't something to worry about if you are afraid. From the outside, you can see a steep hill that you go up, but this is over before you know it and nothing to worry about. It is, IMO, the best fastpass in wdw. The part that I felt took away from the experience is getting to see the resorts and Epcot and everything at the top. It completely took away the feeling that you are on a mountain. While the Mk mountains are superior, it is still worth a ride.

Be forewarned though....it is a video of the actual ride so if you don't want to see what its really like then don't click below.
When I rode Everest, I felt it was quite similar to Big Thunder Mountain. Lots of curving and banking and not so much big drops. Of course there is that one backward part, but that was thrilling.

The Yeti is not prominent enough?!?! That comment suprises me too! I like Everest and from what I've heard its doing what it was meant to, making AK more popular. Everest is very much like Big Thunder Mountain, its fun and fast, but not overly so. The most intense part is the backwards section, which is actually pretty long, but comparing it to "real" coasters (as in at other parks), Everest is still pretty tame.
Here's my take on Everest: I am a big fan of all roller coasters, extreme and not-so-extreme. On a scale of 1-10 on a thrill factor (Yeti scare factor not included, most adults I don't would be scared of an animatronic) I would say it's right in the middle a 5. I really don't think the fact that a roller coaster goes upside down makes it scary. I think speed, drop heights and Gs are the main factors in my opinion. That being said - the roller coaster is faster than BTMRR, has greater drops than Aerosmith, and I would say Gs are somewhere between BTMRR and Aerosmith. The fact that you go backwards in complete darkness is sort of freaky. In my honest opinion, this roller coaster is the most thrilling coaster in WDW in most all aspects. Maybe even the most thrilling ride in all of WDW - right up there with HTOT & Aerosmith.
I just rode EE last week and loved it. I think it's very comparable to BTMR, which is what I told my dad who only does SM once every trip because he starts to feel blah after that. The only part that had me seeing stars a little bit (which surprised me because I LOVE thrill rides) was the part in the dark but I think it was because I jerked my head trying to see where we were going. Anyway, I LOVE EE and the YETI and I think imagineers did an AMAZING job with this ride as well as making AK FINALLY FINALLY show its colors...
AK is now a very close second on my favorite park list of WDW.
How much like a roller coaster?!
Well it IS a roller coaster!
But it is not a SERIOUS thrill coaster like most amusement parks have. It is an "intermediate" coaster with great theming. It is somewhat more intense than Big Thunder Mountain but doesn't even come close to Rock'n'Roller in terms of thrill level. It does not go upside down. If you're OK with BTMRR and are willing to turn it up a notch from there, you'll be fine on Everest.
