How Much Layover Time Do I Need?

We have a couple different options for our airtime. The IDEAL one only gives 30 minutes once we get to Minneapolis to get to over plane for Orlando. Is this enough time? Otherwise, we are going to be leaving at 6:24 in the morning :(

Try to book the next flight from the connecting city even if it is 4 to 6 hours later. You can stand by (if the agent suggests a stopover fee, refuse to pay it but say that you will stand by) for the flight 30 minutes later.

You can also stand by for the early morning (6:24) first flight if at the last minute you manage to get up in the wee hours and make it to the airport that early.

30 minutes is generally not enough time to connect even though the airlines say it is. It is a good idea to plan two hours layover, again standing by for an earlier flight if possible.

If the airline has available seats on flights that you like but they won't let you book them, then you may have a case for compensation if you miss the connection and get stranded overnight.

My cousin flew from San Diego to St Louis to Indy without any problem. He said you never leave the secure area so you should be okay. As far as 1/2 between, I would have probably been concerned before all of this. Can you book a non-stop?

Just IMHO, anything under an hour -- even under normal conditions -- you are pressing your luck.
A half hour would be fine, as long as everything went as it should. But I think it would be a gamble.
I have had an hour layover and surprised how fast that went. Even then I basically just went from one plane to another, grabbing a snack in between.
It would also depend on if your flights are near one another. Mine always seem to be on the opposite side of any airport.

Thanks for all of the help. I think we will leave earlier. We will have a four year old with us and will probably want to take a potty break.
