How much is your child's in-state college costs? Including tuition, fees, book, boarding, etc. Basically, how much is it costing per year for your child to go to college?
UConn is about 10k for tuition and another 10k for boarding. Then the books come close to $1000 per year. And if you're a business major you need to buy a PC from UConn at the beginning of your Jr year (I'm not sure how much that is).
My daughter's going to Emory, but she got an AWESOME financial aid package. With the scholarships, work study, and a massive grant, I will owe virtually nothing. We are so blessed! The total is about $43,000.
In Canada, with boarding and books, etc... around $15,000 per year. Tuition alone is around $5,000 for a 4 year university but rent is super expensive in the area where I live!
i lied on the poll; it'd be in the $10-$20 grand range including room & board, but i didn't read the posts first.
see, there's $40,000ish worth of state college education gets you. i kid, i kid.
(that was spread out over 5 years, some years on campus but most not, some summer classes and just other random stuff...still, not too bad!)
Community college was very cheap-- like 2,000 a year for four semesters (fall/spring plus two summers a year)
University started at about $4000 per semester and creeped up to about $5300 my last semester. I did get some grants and scholarships so I only owe about $18 K for two years of school.
We are just starting the college selection process, DS16 will be a senior in the fall. Right now the in state public colleges are around $15K, private colleges range from $30-45K.
I have my own apartment. It costs 450.00/month + utlities (overall about 600.00/month)
My tuition is 2000.00/semester.
I have 800.00/semester on a card that allows me to eat at any campus cafeteria.
adding that up its about 11,600/year.
but i have about 15,000/year in financial aid and scholarships. so all of mine is free, and i get several thousand back for going to school.
DS will be going to (SUNY) Binghamton University in the fall....since we don't have an exact number yet, we are probably looking in the $18-19,000.00 range.
For the University of NH the total cost when you include all the mandatory fees, books, etc is somewhere between $20,000 and $25,000 per year. DD is just going into her first year so we don't have a definite number yet.
