How much is it to rent a stroller?

We are debating as to whether or not we want to bring our stoller or rent one each time we go to the parks. We have a 4, 6 and 8 year old. We were hoping to be done with all that but a few of my friends said we will regret not having one. Does anyone have thoughts on renting vs. bringing and if renting, how much does Disney charge for single/double. Thanks!

We went in October 2005 and the doubles were $18 a day. We were able to rent one for the length of our stay at a 10% discount. I am not sure if this is still available. We had a 3, 5 and 7 yr old with us, and many times all 3 would fit in the stroller. If you are going to hop, you can also take your receipt/ticket with you and get another stroller at the other park free. We also gave ours away to families who looked like they could use a stroller when we left the parks.

If you have charging priviledges on your room card, you can pay for it that way. However, we did not do this. And the strollers are not attached to your room card. We were given 5 tickets for the 5 days we rented. They stamp the day on one ticket. When you hop or go back you just show them the stamped ticket, without waiting in the rental line again. They are paper so you need to keep them dry, they were looking quite ratty by the end of the week.

Thanks for your reply. We have 8 day park hoppers, so we will do a length of stay rental for 8 days. But what happens if you don't use it one day, and have a day left over, can we get a refund or do we just lose the money. Thanks for any help.

I don't think they would give you a refund, but you never know. But I am pretty confident if you did not use a day, you could use it for another trip. They are paper tickets that get stamped, so there are no days on them.

Thanks for your help :flower:

We are at WDW now and bought the multiple day tickets for stroller rental. Singles are 10.00 and doubles are 18.00. If you buy multiple days they do discount about 2.00. And yes they do refund your money for any days that you do not get stamped. Just take the ticket packet and the original receipt and they will credit you back.

One thing I have had happen is that if we are entering for the first time later in the day, people have come up and offered me their stroller to use saving me a stamp for the day. I have even had people offer me money ($5) to use mine when I was leaving. My mom always said it was nice to share.

Thanks, I have heard of people offering their strollers at the end of the day to others, and it is a very nice thing to do. This will be our first WDW trip, so everything is new, and we'll try to share our stroller too.

3kidz4dis, I have heard too many times to count that the strollers at the parks are not that comfortable :rolleyes1 . For myself, we are driving to Fla. and I will pack our stroller for the last time. The kids are 6 1/2 and almost 3 at the time of travel. I'm sure the oldest will not want to ride in the stroller and the little one won't do it much, unless we make her :rotfl2:. The main benefit to ours is the compartment underneth the seat. It will hold a small cooler and small duffle bag. What I did last time was purchase a bike chaining cable at Walmart (it's about 6ft long) and ran it through the wheels and handles on the bags and locked it up each time we were away from it on a ride or eating :earboy2:. It keeps the honest people honest anyway.

If you want to avoid bringing your own on the plane and still want to save some dollars:
If you make a Walmart run.....pickup a cheap umbrella type stroller for ajust under $20....use it the entire week you are here.....
Abandon it the last night you are in the park or hotel....

The leftover strollers go to lost/found for a while....then they end up at Property Control where they are later sold for pennies on the dollar to cast members and their guests.

I have seen tons of same umbrella stroller there......LOTS of people do this.
Some umbrella strollers even have the nice baskets below.

Do the math: if you need a park stroller each day for 5 days x $18.....adds up. Save the money.

We also drove to Florida. The reason I did not pack our single stroller (a jogger with swival front wheel) or double (Graco Duo Glide) or umbrella was the fact that with 3 kids and a back pack, it was not worth it to drag it on and off the bus. I have done the double and singles in Disney and it was alot of work and much more of a hassle for us. While the Disney strollers are not suitable for infants or children who are under the age of 1, when I took our then 3 yr old and 15 month old, it worked out just fine. This year the kids were 7, 5 and 3. It was great, all 3 could fit in it and we could move very fast if needed. It was especially great in the rain, because all 3 were able to get cover under plastic from the rain. It saves alot of money to bring your own, but like I said for us it was the hassle of it.

Anyone want to do a "stroller handoff"? I arrive 1/1/06 at OKW (and will be at EPCOT that day). I will gladly split the cost of a purchased stroller with a basket with someone leaving on the 1st. Pls e-mail: posmanti@comcast.net.

Unused tickets can and will be refunded. Wish I'd realized that before I came back home. I sold my one unused double-stroller ticket on eBay for $6.
