First off this is an honest straight forward question.
This is not meant to encourage, advocate, debate, discourage or comment on any particular thread or poster.
Just a question and an observation from a DISer that tries to be objective, fair and helpful.
For the sake of clarity and discussion should one take place,
Perpetual Threads or as they will be refered to from this point forward -" PTs "- are defined as any thread that could go on indefinitely.
PTs seem to fall into two main catagorys here on the CB, " Games " & " Groups "
Also note that the exchanges which might at first appear to be PTs, do end and do not offer the opportunity for everyone and anyone to post replys to them constantly without the main goal of the Exchange thread being compromised.
So exchange threads are in no way meant to be dicsussed or considered to fall under the PT label.

Now here is the observation and a partial answer to Dan Murphy's Question from a while back on why some people lose interest in the CB and stop posting as often.
In several conversations with " missing Disers "
away from the CB as well as occasional comments in threads here at the CB, one of the more common reasons mentioned for the lack of interest in the DIS CB are the " PTs or Groups & Games " Threads.
There is no negative context associated with this
reason, but for the most part and in at least this posters opinion there is no problem with the Groups and Games threads and if pressed to describe the feelings about them a simple " They are not Truth's cup of Tea " would cover it.
Anyway there are occasional missing DISer threads
with people wondering why they lefted and this is just to say that for some of the missing DISers this is " one " of the reasons.

The question part of this thread is mostly for the people that enjoy, start and reply to these Groups and Games Threads but anyone is welcome to register a yes to any or all of the following questions by checking the questions they would answer yes to in the poll above.
1. Would you like to have your own Groups and Games Board under the " Just For Fun " section of the DIS along the lines of the old debate board ?
2. Would you like to have all the Groups and Games threads struck at the top of the CB so you don't have to hunt down any of the ones that get left behind on the back pages ?
3. Would you like to have the Groups and Games Threads added above here at the CB like the " Congratulations & Birthday Wishes Threads "?
4. Do you think the Groups and Games Threads should be limited to a certain number so that when they are all posted to at once they don't displace the regular topic threads down to the bottom of the first page or on to page two of the CB ?
5. Would you be willing to give up all but 5 of the groups and games threads if it meant that no more political threads or debates would be allowed on the CB at all ?
( 5 is a random number selected because there are 50 slots on page one and 5 threads would be 10 percent of the thread space just for the PTs.)
6. Would you be willing to limit the Groups and games threads to ten.
7. If none of the above appealed to you do you still " wish " something would be done differently about the Groups and Games Threads.
8. Are you willing to have political and debate threads made off limits here on the CB.
