How much ink should I get?

I have just a regular ol' printer from HP (officejet I think is the 'name"). I am wanting to do 20more shirts (I did 4 already). I was also thinking of making each boy an autograph book. I just need an idea on how much ink I should buy.

I've done the pics for the window already thankfully. I am down to 37days and feeling the stress to get it done.

That is a hard question for anyone to answer... It depends on what size autograph cards you are going to print and how many. If you were just doing t-shirts, I would say one more color cartridge and one black and white and you should have ink left over especially if you still have ink in your current cartridge.

If you are going to print 4x6 autograph cards and want to print a bunch of the full color ones like Penny's (Chaoscent) or LJCollins...I think my books had around 235 cards...you will definitely need to get at least two more color cartridges. Worse case if you can afford it...over purchase the ink cartridges as it is something that you can always use and won't have to worry about returning. You will need less cartridges if you are printing Natalie's that just have a small border and the picture of a character in the corner.

If you are trying to save on money...print generic cards that any character could sign and you will probably need between 50-100 cards total depending on how many days you will be there and how many characters your children will want to meet. Then you won't need as much ink.

Hope that helps a little. Dolly

I'm starting to think I've taken on too much. I am going to do the tshirts and see how I feel. I might just end up buying an autograph book for them there at Disney. I've been meaning to get around to these, but being in and out of the hospital really has made that hard...LOL. I deff will get one more of each color (yeah I just realized I cant get all 3 together...they have to be bought sep), and one more black. We are looking at $70 in ink so thats why im holding off (plus the fact i feel overwhelmed).

Have you considered saving all of the images to your "pictures" as a jpeg. Then you could take them to Wal-mart and have them printed on 4x6 cards on Matte photo paper and then it would save you a LOT of time and money. Then you could get a photo album and slide them into each sleeve. Super easy and cost effective!!!

I took an idea from an earlier post and used artscow.com
I saved the autograph cards to my computer and then uploaded to the photo account from artscow...they were 12 cents for 5 x 7 and I think I ended up with about 65...I didn't do everyone but included a few blanks...I think the actual pics cost around $10. I had a cover made and took the cover and pics to office max and got them spiral bound...that was about $4. It was much easier and I didn't want to spend the time or money on the ink.
hope that helps! Oh, they do take a while to come in (about 2 weeks) so if you do it through artscow do it now! You could also use walmart or kodak but the 4 x 6 would probably be a better price

Oh that's a good idea. I have 50 free prints from Shutterfly right now I can use.

great! I am in love with how DS2 autograph book turned out! I had a custom cover made and printed that as a pic too. when I had it spiral bound they put a clear page over the front and back as a "cover"....very cute! I will post pics this week because I just finished our tshirts too!

Wow talk about a time and ink saver. THANKS YOU 2!!!!! I ordered them for $5 (I had 90 total)!!!! We are skipping the princesses and fairies since I have boys.

so glad I could help someone! Everyone has been so helpful on the boards that it is nice to "pay it forward"!

Not to kidnap this thread but have a question. I did download Natalie's cards but when I went to print them off (just started at Alladin) the bottom was cut off even though I changed my printer to 4x6. Anyone have any helpful hints? I like the idea of taking them somewhere and having them printed to save the ink but am worried about them not fitting. TIA for any assistance.
