How much grief can one family take??

Friends of ours, who we met when our oldest son was friends with their son, are going through heck right now...for the second time in only 15 months.

In August 2004, their son, who was 16, was killed in a very tragic dirtbike accident. It crippled this family, as would be expected. The mother went through counselling and ended up getting pregnant a few months later. The pregnancy seemed to give her a purpose. She was still grieving her son she lost but she had something positive to focus on. She would send me pictures of herself during each stage, and the smile on her face grew bigger as her belly grew. In July of this year, their new son was born...a beautiful little boy who looked very much like his big brother. Everyone was so happy for them. Her emails to me were full of happiness, and she said on more than one occasion that this little boy brought them back sunshine they never thought they'd see again.

I just learned late last night that this precious baby died in his sleep when he was put down for a nap yesterday. What this family must be endearing again is something I cannot even fathom.

So, if anyone can spare some prayers for this family, they sure could use them. Thanks.

Oh my goodness - your post just sent chills down my spine. I've got a 2 month old and SIDS is always a worry in the back of my mind. What a tragic turn of events.
