After recently noticing that all of my trip countdowns contain the resort I'll be staying in (as opposed to just counting down to the trip itself), I've come to the realization that out of the 3 parts of my Disney World trips (the resort - the parks - the restaurants), it's the resort that I stay at that gives me the most fun in researching and planning.

I'm curious how my fellow Resort Board DISers feel. :scratchin

So here's a fun poll to post on. Tell me which is at the top of your Disney Trip list:

The Resort
The Parks
The Restaurants

I should add that ALL 3 components together create the fun I have on my trips, but the resort I choose gives me the most fun before the trip (here on the Resort Board), during the trip, and even afterwards when looking back at the pictures I've taken.

P.S. This is NOT about whether you stay at a value, moderate, DVC, or a deluxe; it's more about whether whichever resort you do choose gives you the most fun to plan and research, over the parks you'll visit and the restaurants you'll dine at. Case in point, we do usually stay at a deluxe resort but last month I stayed at POR for the first time and I found that researching that resort and planning that trip gave me the same sense of enjoyment and satisfaction that I get when planning our deluxe resorts/trips. And I know I'd have just as much fun researching a value resort, too. :sunny:

Well, we generally make at least 1 trip per year, sometimes more. I have to say that the resort factors in greatly as we tend to return mid day to rest and change for dinner, then head to another park or resort for our evening meal and entertainment. We tend to gravitate toward deluxes as they offer more amenities. The parks and restaurants are also important but I think that the resorts are the deal breaker for us.

It's the resort choice for us! I love researching them, trying new ones, and returning to favorites. We like to relax a day or two at the resort and swim all day, wander around, etc. I also love reading other people's reports on them and writing my own!

To me, it is a lot more than just a place to lay my head.

Choosing the resort...I have changed a few times for next trip....
Once the resort is chosen....then onto restaurants, planning your day at what parks, etc......Resort first:)

Since we've been to WDW many times we are no longer theme park commandos and we do spend time enjoying the resort. It's usually the first thing I consider when planning. Parks and restaurants are a nice compliment! I love the entire process.

I love the resort aspect of the planning. We have just decided to go to WDW in October for MNSSHP and instead of staying at Wilderness Lodge we are going to stay at an Epcot resort for a change. I am so looking forward to all the research and planning of a new reosrt.:)

Seapsray, It made me smile when I saw your post. I have been on the boards a lot lately since we just go back from a trip. I had been wondering where you had been since I had not seen you posting. I always enjoy reading your posts.:)

The Resort is 1/2 the vacation for us. It'sa big part of it. Planning it all is so much fun. Which parks to go to on which days, planning where to eat on those days. :cloud9:

Fun poll!! I spend months choosing the resort, which section, etc. because there are so many choices. The parks are pretty much always the same and we go to them all, but the resort is the hub of the vacation and really sets the tone. I usually have so much trouble deciding that we resort hop, but I have stayed at a few different ones now and am determined to pick one place and stay with it next time. Our next trip will probably not be for over a year, but I have already decided on POR (good luck with not changing my mind 100 times, huh?), mostly depending on whether there will be 4 or 5 of us going.

I bet no one on the boards picks "None"!

I love to plan all 3 its fun to pick the resorts and where were going to stay and its also fun to pick the parks because it allows you to choose where you want to go and have fun. Finally the restaurants, you gotta eat right, Its so fun to pick the place your going to eat at and the design of some of the restaurants are magnificent. All 3 are definitaly a blast to plan. (This thread is cool :cool2: )

Usually, I would say it is all three (in fact that is what I chose in the poll),
but this year, my two oldest DD and I changed our resort from POR to POLY in order to surprise my DW and youngest DD! So the resort was much more "fun" this year! Hiding the package is getting difficult - they both want to see everything- but when we get to the ME check-in and get in line for POLY it will all be worth it!
(we are a family of 5, so POR has always been our choice, but my wife really deserves a more "compact" resort this year. Our last two times at POR we were as far away from the gift shop/restaurants as you could possibly get! POR is beautiful, but we wanted something different this year)

I enjoy all three! The resort is fun to figure out which one to stay at and what theming we want. The parks to see which we will be less crowded on which day and whether my DD's will be able to do a ride this year that they could not do last year. Finally, the restaurants we like to try different foods while at WDW.

While the resort does play a part on where you decide to stay, I picked the parks because you spend majority of your time there.

Hi Terry,

I voted for the resort. This is a nice poll. By the way, I enjoyed your pics from your website.

See you at Tiki Fest!

During the planning process picking a resort is the most fun for me, I love being able to look and compare all the resorts and decide where to stay and then what to do/check-out at the resort. I only go to Disney once a year (if at all) so when I get to plan a trip I always want to make sure I've picked the right resort and that I know all the resort has to offer so that I don't miss out on anything.

Planning for the parks and restuarant is fun too though!

I have a lot of fun planning all three! I love researching the resorts, then planning my park days and ADR's! So much fun! I can't wait until DH gives me the OK to start planning our next trip!

While I did enjoy choosing adrs for the ddp, I have been researching the resorts and having more fun with them. Changing my mind back and forth and then finally taking the plunge and upgrading to a deluxe in the end. We will be staying at the Poly for Halloween. :yay:

Since all of this is New to Me
(stayed on Dis Property for 1st time last year--I will never do it anyother way again) I'm really enjoying learning
about the different Resorts.
As of right now we are planning on
trying all of the MODS (in our price range)
but who knows what the future will bring.
Would love to try all resorts!!!
No Matter what price range
it's so nice that you can have a choice and all resorts seem to
Give that Disney Magic that We're all looking for!!! :wizard:

I voted for all 3, cause its all fun planning for us!!!
