How much for food?

Much depends on where and what you want to eat. Do you want to eat B, L and D in the parks? Do you want to eat counter service, or sit down meals? You can cut costs at sit down meals by sharing one adult meal - it's common in WDW and done all the time. Check out this site http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm for the menus and prices for all the WDW restaurants and you'll have a pretty good idea of what you will need.

For food, souvenirs & snacks I would over budget & say to take $100 a day - or at least take $500 total. This should be more than enough & you will probably come home with money. For me, I hate to feel like I can't do something special because I just didn't budget enough money.

Again, you'll most likely come home with money if you budget this much, but that's okay......you can put it towards another trip! :)

It will be just myself and my five year old in November. We plan to eat breakfast in the room or on the run most days. I have 10 lunch/dinner vouchers (quick and casual) so that pretty much covers our lunches all week so I just really have to bring money to buy dinner. We will probably eat counter service most nights and do a character meal once. I'm planning on about $30 a day for the two of us for the drinks, snacks and dinner. I'm not a big eater, neither is he, so we will probably share most meals.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to make this trip a super budget one since my sister (whom lives with me and pays a portion of the rent) has decided to move back to MI so I won't have a lot of extra money. I am trying to stick to $500 in spending money for the entire trip, so hopefully it's doable :D I think it will be. $250 for food and $250 for entertainment (kids club), souvies and transportation. I booked a towncar, but now I'm thinking I might just downgrade to Mears :(

How much cash should I have for food? It will be me and my 6 year old daughter for 6 days.

If you mean how much will you likely spend on food, that number can vary tremendously depending on where, what and how much you eat. On our last trip, we were 3 adults and DD 8. We averaged about $17/person/day for all meals, snacks and beverages.

If, however, your question is how much CASH you need to carry, the answer is very little. Almost every food site takes credit cards (or you can charge back to your room if you are staying onsite). There are a few carts (popcorn, ice cream) that you need cash for, so you should carry $10-20 with you each day to cover those types of things.
