Just a question for any DDP experts out there, :confused3 I'm curious as to how much extra OOP you spent while on the DDP. I'm not anticipating any "signiture" 2 credit DDP restaurants, just using our 1 cs, 1 ts, 1 snack per day. I'm figuring between my 3 kids, maybe getting something from the food court for them before we go in the morning, and maybe a pc of fruit for me, but that's about it, seeing how it's a ton of food on the DDP. Any insight would be helpful as I'm trying to plan a *budget* :teacher:

TIA!
Chip

We have used the DDP and will use it again this week. We are DVC owners and have to pay for the plan at check in (wish we could pre-pay for the dining). The only other thing we pay for is souveniers. We bring a little cash and if we buy too many souveniers we can always use the credit card!;)

We used the DDP from 12/5-11 & didn't pay out of pocket for any food or snacks, just alcoholic beverages & the refillable mugs.

I budget about $100 a day for the three of us. This covers souvies, alcoholic beverages, and tips. This also includes the cost of the purchase of the photo CD at the end of the trip . . . and I usually have money left over!

I added up for our 12 days, we spent 547.00 OOP for food. this included 1 dinner at WCC (82.00) and alcoholic drinks at most dinners about (40-50.00 each time, those glowing martinis are 8.00 each!), OOP for kids and drinks at Italy (77.00), 2 counter breakfasts and a few random snacks that were not worth getting on DDP.
basically what we saved on DDP we spent on the drinks. HTH!

We only spent about $10 oop last week - $8 for a drink at Ohana and $2 for a coffee at the hotel. Other than that, the dining credits left us very fulfilled.

The DDP was a lot of food so we didn't really have to spend too much extra $$. Dh got hungry one night after a 3:30 dinner so he got a burger and fries. Besides that we didn't spend any extra money on food. If you use the snack for breakfast ( you can use 1 snack credit for a 8 box of entenmans doughnuts), the counter for lunch and the table service for dinner, you won't really need any extra money.

Even though we may be doing alot of sharing at CS and a few of our TS that allow it, I am planning on paying OOP for CS breakfasts, a few extras +tip at the TS where I will be sharing (extra sides or whatever we see fit), and an extra drink per person per day. If we have extra $ left on our last couple of days, we will splurge on a character Bfst, or extra souvies :cheer2: (I will be budgeting for quite a bit of OOP, as I will also be treating my dearest friend to a couple of birthday dinners, 1 with a special cake, If the restaurant will work w me, instead of insisting on all choc or van, with no substitutions, or special fillings (like fruit or Mousse, if not, it wont be worth it :guilty: I tend to over-budget, then reap the bennefits of not worrying durring the trip, and extra treats at the end

Hi Chip!
We just returned from 9 days at WDW on the Dining Plan. We have a 3 and a 5 year old. OOP we spent money on one bag of bagels, one quart of milk, one quart of orange juice and three alcoholic beverages. We had six counter service and 1 table service meals leftover. We were concerned that we would run out of meals, so we bought the breakfast items as soon as we arrived and used them the first two or three days. What a mistake! We should have headed downstairs and had breakfast at the counter service restaurant at our hotel from day one. The meals are so huge that my husband and I split a breakfast croissant each morning and the kids split an adult meal of four pancakes and bacon. Anyway, the three items cost about $10.00 and the alcoholic beverages varied from $9-$12.00 each. Ouch on the price, but well worth it. The wine was fabulous. :thumbsup2

What about water? Curious how much extra to bring for water. I tend to drink about 80 to 100 oz of water at home per day. Plus, I have a drink with each meal whether it be diet soda or an alcoholic beverage. I could probably cut back on the water consumption but I really don't want to.

great question? I was wondering that myself..
although I am spending 5 nites but plan on doing 2 signature meals ..

DH& I also enjoy a cocktail or 2 each evening.

I have hypothetically thought about $58 a day which would take into consideration alcohol, souveniors and the 4-5 bottles of water I drink during the day. plus OOP that I will pay when I have no table service left

still a bargain to me!!

On my last trip, bottled water/ sodas were 2.50 or 3.00 each. For 20 oz, I think. It has been a looooong time. That sounds like ALOT to drink, and alot of time spent in the bathroom? But thats just how my body works. Have fun :thumbsup2

We bought 2 cases of water at Wal-mart before going down, and kept the fridge stocked. I couldn't see paying $3 each when a case is $5. We filled a collaspable cooler w/ ice at the hotel before heading out each day, and it worked like a charm. I have heard Staples delivers cases for those who are flying down.

As for the food, DDP gives you so much, it is hard to eat it all. We had 11 snacks left over on our last day. We ate a CS lunch OOP, and snacked through the rest of the day! We budgeted $1000 for a 9 day trip (2 days driving, cheap hotels, gas, etc included) and came home with $90 left... and more Disney junk than would fit in the car!
