I am curious if most people sell 100% of the items they list, half or only a few out of every 10?

No one sells on ebay? I'm new at it and wondering if others have items that don't get bids, or if I'm doing something wrong.

Sorry... been off the computer today so I didn't see your question earlier..

I sell around 70% of what I list. And unfortunately, that 70% has mostly been selling for starting price. I'm not exactly doing a "run away" business lately. Not sure what my problem is, other than have the wrong "stuff". I'm pretty sure my prices are starting low enough (I rarely start anything above $1.99.... lots of stuff starts at .99)... I usually offer a choice of Parcel Post or Priority Mail, and I try VERY HARD to keep my shipping prices low and true. I would love to find something that sells good and make some real money. I figured over the past few weeks I've made less than $120 and I have probably put in excess of 5 hours into it... not exactly a great hourly rate. And a lot of what I am selling I am selling for less than I paid originally (especially the collectible Barbies I bought 7 - 10 years ago).... oh well...........P

I sell a lot. I don't sell a lot of stuff, but the stuff I do sell, I get good money for. If you're asking percentage, I'd say I sell about 40% the first time around.

So far my DW has tried to sell 3 things:

1) Disney Princess Beach Towel : SOLD

2) Disney Stitch Beach Towel : twice didn't sell

3) Small black Delia's Purse : Sold but member didn't pay (huge ordeal, member got booted from Ebay and we got our fees back)

Low priced items can backfire on you. Why? The shipping charges ruin the deal. It is much easier to sell a $50 item with a $5 shipping charge than to sell a $2 item with the same shipping $5 charge. Unless those $1.99 items of yours are worth a whole lot more, the shipping charge makes the deal not worth it for a lot of buyers. Its really tough to move low priced items on ebay unless they can be shipped very cheaply - like postcards and photos that can be shipped in envelopes.

I don't sell as much as I should (my stockpiles are growing) but I've sold everything I've tried to sell. I sell a lot of free-after-rebate or free-after-coupon items, my hobby is refunding and couponing. I've sold mostly new items with UPCs removed (software, etc), or used bigger ticket items, like lots of baby clothes. I don't really bother with lesser priced items (anything that will sell for under $15), I wish I could, but I just don't have the time. I figure the tax writeoff for the donation would be more than what I'd end up selling small items for. Good luck!

If anyone is interested - I discovered a new place to sell items. It's call ioffer. You can list them for free. It is not an auction but you get your own store to list whatever you want.

I sell almost everything I list, but not always the first auction. I have also found that three day auctions work best for me. Sometimes I take lots less than I wanted. I haven't sold in a while but am getting ready to put on a bunch of things. I try to cruise the closed auctions and pay attention to what is getting multiple bids. Those are the types of thiings I look for besides the Disney stuff. (I live close to the disney catalog outlet discount store / shipping plant).
Actually I am getting ready to test whether or not Ebay can make me enough income to be able to stay home and homeschool my girls when we get out of Debt in April. So any Ebay advice would be appreciated!!
