How much does plastic surgery cost?

Cindy--I have excess breast tissue if you want it! :rotfl2:

Having always been a gal who's been well-endowed, I've never understood why girls want to go bigger. Heck..if I were smallish (say a B cup), I'd want to stay right where I was at. Nobody needs jugs bigger than their heads.

:teeth: just let me tell you that there's no way I'm going for "dancer ****s" or "bigger than my head" ****s. Just want to be in proportion. My sister has had a reduction. She got hers, mine and our other sister's share of the wealth. I got the naturally curly red hair, she got the hooters...

I'm intrigued by the shows where people are having all kinds of procedures done. What do these cost? I'm sure it varies from one part of the country to another and from doctor to doctor, but I've been curious based on the lifestyles of some of the featured doctors how much they charge.

My tummy tuck was just over $5000.00 and my reduction surgery insurance paid for.

I'm going to be going in for a consulation soon so I've been doing some research. One website I visited estimated that a nose job is between $3,000 and $6,000 - that's actually less than I anticipated. I'm also want to have something done about my sagging cheeks but I'm not sure what my best option will be - cheek implants or mini-facelift I would imagine.

I told DH about this today and he just said we'd talk. I told him it was not up for negotiation and he just replied 'we'll talk'. He is against plastic surgery but I've been warning him for years that this was coming eventually so it's not like it's a surprise. This should be an interesting discussion to say the least.

If I was a B I wouldn't have gotten inplants. I was not even an A (the only positive thing about that was there was nothing to sag after having 3 kids :rotfl: ). I am now a large C. No more padded bras here, it's great!

I also come from the point of view where I can't believe anyone would want a bigger chest ......! :faint:

But if I could do something, it would be to improve my chin/profile. I had a lifelong problem with orthodontic issues partly because of a small, receded chin. If I had the money, I would get a better chin and finally have a real jawline! :teeth:

Actually, some of the prices quoted here sound ridiciously low to me! I mean, just having my wisdom teeth pulled was well over $2000! I was in a car crash once and spent three hours in an emergency room (all they did was give me a bandaid) and that alone was over $1000 (and this was 20 years ago!). I can't imagine any sort of cosmetic surgery being under $20,000! :faint:

But I am scared to death of surgery, so probably won't do anything ever! :scared:

I'm glad your happy with them. I guess if you're happy, then that's all that matters, right? :)

Please keep in mind that breast implants are only meant to last 10 - 12 years. I had mine done 17 years ago and they now need to be replaced. The surgery is scheduled for next Thursday and the cost for removal of the old implants, new implants put in, and breast lift is about $11,000. So, even thought the first surgery is only around $4-5K, remember that the second one will be over twice as much.

Looks like we are doing this one together. I had my implants for 22 years. It is amazing they have lasted this long. According to the MRI, I don't have a lot of tissue damage. They will simply remove the implants and the capsulization created by the scar tissue.

I discussed with my doctor the idea of putting in new implants. Since all implants will eventually fail, I did not want to be facing surgery again. I have elected not to have new implants. We talked about a new procedure used to build a breast from other tissue, but it is very expensive, somewhat risky (they have to transfer blood vessels) and has a long recover period. I'm not ready to do that at this time.

When I hear women talking about getting implants because they are unhappy with the size of their breasts, I cringe. I'd give anything not to have had to get them in the first place (I was originally a 34 AA and was quite content with my size). I am in pain from the implants now and hoping that my surgery to remove them turns out to be simple. But, it is human nature to want to be different than we are.

Cindyluwho, I hope your surgery goes smoothly as well!

Cosmetic surgery, if you pay out of pocket, is usually less than medically necessary surgery. I had a breast reduction that was deemed medically necessary. I am not sure how much the cost was, but my guess it was about $12000. If I had paid out of pocket it probably would of cost around $5000. Once the insurance co becomes involved, the prices magically go up! When people are talking about cost you need to find out if it was cosmetic or medically necessary.
