We're staying at POR for 5 nights and I'd like to get some feedback as to how much you leave for a tip for Mousekeeping. Do you tip each day, or all in the beginning, or all at the end? We are usually good tippers leaving between 20-30% at most meals so I don't mind giving more than the standard for great service.

We stayed at POR last year for 9 days. There were 4 of us total. I gave them $2 per per/per day. So that was $8 each day in an envelope marked Mousekeeping. Not sure if this is the standard, but I thought I read it in one of the books I bought about your first trip to Disney. :)

You should tip each day because your keeper could change. The amount is up to you but we do $1/person plus $1 more. We did tip more when our son was smaller but we did make sure all his stuff was on the table and not on the floor and not on the beds.

I leave $5 or $10 per day. Depends on trash level
I am not sure how you determine how many people are cleaning your room. We are never there when they come.

I'm a pretty neat person and clean up after myself and my family, so I leave $5 per day. There are 5 of us.

DW and I usually leave $3 per day. We are fairly neat, but if we leave a mess, we leave a bigger tip>

We tip daily to make sure everyone who takes care of our room(s) get's tipped. We tip $1 per person per day plus $1. So in the case of us and our 2 girls we would tip $4 dollars for the number of people plus $1 = $5 dollar tip daily.

Does anyone think that they would prefer something unique as opposed to just money in an envelope? I was thinking something along the idea of maybe $2 bills, or some kind of origami folded bills, etc. Any other ideas?

I've done the bowtie oragami for them several times, but I'm sure they appreciate the moolah over my folding skills :)

It might be a British thing but I don't tip housekeeping at any hotel. But I would often leave any excess change in the room when I check out, but that isn't really a tip, just more that I don't want to carry the change on the flight.

Although you don't intend it to be, this would be viewed as an insult to the mousekeepers. Generally anytime someone that receives tips is left change only, it is an indication that the service was unacceptable.

We tip $1 per person daily and I just leave it on the closer edge of the sink. I have done the envelope thing, but it's just not worth my time.

When previous posters say $2 per person per day they mean per person staying in the room.

I usually give $5 per day, sometimes more if I get pixie dust, like towel animals or toys arranged on the beds.

We tip $1 per person in the room, but if we are messy we tip 2 per person. Typically check out day we leave behind extra bags and such so the checkout day gets a bigger tip...they have to reset the room so they have more work in general.

We have made up cute envelopes....

Maybe....your kids could color/decorate the envelopes?
or maybe, if you want to dress it up, include a thank you drawing from your child?

Maybe a star colored in by your young child, and the words: You are a star! Thank you for keeping our room tidy, from: your kids first name?

We usually tip between $5 and $10 a day.
I usually bring envelopes from home and my daughter sometimes leaves a note. At a few hotels (not Disney) she has had an ongoing note exchange with housekeeping. Very cute. And she understands that human beings clean her room while on vacation and they should be treated with the same respect we all deserve.
And on a slightly related note my daughter threw up all over herself and the bed in the middle of the night the last time we were at Yacht Club. Housekeeping was there in a flash and I think she mothered me more than I mothered my daughter. Wonderful woman. We also tipped her that night. I will always remember her kindness. (Brings tears to my eyes thinking about her.)
