I usually tip about $5 for a $20-$30 order. One reason I don't tip more is that the pizza places have been charging a delivery service fee (started when the gas prices went up) and I assume the driver gets that also.
I tip $5 or more for a $15 pizza. We live in a hidden apartment complex and ours is in the back behind trees and our building is unmarked.
We usually have to walk out on the path with a flashlight to guide the poor pizza guy in, too.
I figure if they can find us, they deserve their bigger tip.
I'm cheap too I guess...$2 per delivery here.Wow, I guess I am cheap. I tip all the delivery guys around $3 for any order.
I agree with everything you said! I'm not giving 20% unless they want to come in and plate it up and serve. And if there's a delivery charge, it's not my problem whether the guy driving gets that fee or not, it's a fee I paid for delivery and then my $2 tip goes on top of that and I'm done.Around $3, for an average size order. A little more if we have a very large order that the delivery person would need to juggle.
That seems adequate to me for the work being done on my behalf. I don't think 20% is a resonable standard for delivery. It's fine for restaurant service, but food delivery is a completely different animal.
I do take the delivery charge into account when I decide on a tip. What percentage of the delivery charge goes to the delivery person is between them and the store, but if I'm expected to pay a delivery charge, I expect it to offset some of my delivery costs.
I'm with you only slightly cheaper! We only give $3 a delivery (no matter what the total bill is)
