How much do you tip for pizza delivery?

Just ordered a pizza for DD and I for lunch. Total, INCLUDING a $2.00 delivery charge is $12.49. So what do YOU tip for that? I'm thinking $2.00. I wonder if the delivery charge goes to the pizza joint or the delivery person?

I tip $5 for a $12 pizza. Here, the delivery guy only gets what he collects in tips. The delivery charge is not his.

I always give $5 on top of the delivery fee. They are literally right across the street (less than a mile) and love us! :) If it is a larger order (more than 2 pizza's - I give $5 for every two). I just sympathize with the drivers. They put up with a lot and don't get tipped.

We tip no less than $5 for pizza delivery and more if the weather is bad. The way I see it is they are bringing me my dinner because I was too lazy to go get it myself and they should be paid for that.

If someone would deliver pizza here I would give them whatever they wanted!!

Uh oh, I only tip $2ish :sad2:. The pizza place is already charging me a different price for the food because it is delivery. That's quite a bit of change.

I think it really depends on your area and how things are. I am pretty far from any pizza place and it is a real nasty time getting to and from the pizza place during rush hour. Hence, I carryout the pizza rather than get it myself. I kinda feel bad for the delivery guy because it's an awful ride for him and out of the way. So I try to tip more. If the pizza place was a few blocks away and it was an easy drive, I'd either get it myself or tip less if the guy wasn't working as hard to get the pizza to me.

I've had some really bad delivery experiences lately and no, they didn't get tipped well. Normally I tip 3-5 dollars. More if the weather is bad and less if the service is bad.

I'm leaning towards just picking up my pizzas from now on. I live in the middle of a city and it would be just as fast (or faster, Dominos I'm looking at you!) for me to pick it up, and its cheaper since I wouldn't pay the delivery fee or tip.

I agree, the delivery fee doesn't go for delivery. I tip about 2 or 3 dollars per pizza. We always get at least 2 or 3 pizzas.

My mother does this to make some extra $$ while she's gone back to school. They don't see any of the delivery charge.

I usually go and pick it up. We have a few different pizza places nearby, it would take me about 10 minutes roundtrip. I save the delivery fee and get it 30 minutes faster than their quoted delivery time.

What makes a delivery experience bad? I am just asking because I don't think that I have ever had a delivery experience that I would consider bad.

We don't do delivery, our usual pizza place is less than 5 minutes away and when you call in a pick-up it takes 15-20 minutes. For delivery it can take up to an hour. Our other usual place is a little farther away (10 minutes) but we still pick it up, we don't like having to wait so long.

I genereally tip about $3, which is normally a little more than 20%. More if it's nasty outside.
When I order with my boyfriend we almost always pick up.

I tip between $3 and $5 dollars. If it's for more than one pizza at least $5.
Bad weather, holidays or Superbowl Sunday they definitely get extra from me! :goodvibes

DD works at a local pizzeria (not a chain). I would recommend tipping at least $3-$5. Just trust me on this one. The delivery person does not get paid the delivery fee, and if you ever want another delivery, well I'll say it again, just trust me, TIP!;)

Here is my question: If the delivery people aren't getting a delivery fee and they never drive a company delivery vehicle, then the restraunt is just pocketing this?

Seems like someone would have made a lawsuit somewhere along the way about this. (People sue for anything).
